I have to disagree op.
I started off at 18 on a base salary of 52k after tax as a constable and I have in the last 7 years worked my way up to just over 90k after tax as a sergeant. Doing my detective course next year to try to work my way to about 120k a year. And let me tell you nothing feels better then living comfortably knowing you can easily pay the bills and not have to be a tight ass when you go out.
I have brought myself a nice car and have my 500k mortgage down to 210k left got a nice car and a beautiful girlfriend. My life wouldn't be like this if I was only earning 50k a year.

I'm not trying to go against your viewpoint as a 45 year old family man, but we're on the misc here. The average age is 18-25 and most miscers are forever alone. The fact that this was even said as "Unpopular opinion" is probably the confusing point, because if most miscers thought this was an unpopular opinion, then most miscers are materialistic as f*ck individuals who think a ferrari is the gateway to love. 20somethings making 50k net while single is a fantastic start to your adult life if you manage it right. If you find yourself broke while in this stage, you have spending issues or student debt.

If you don't have a balling life at 50k a year you are doing something wrong or have kids/wife.
srs
some of you guys are retarded...wtf are you buying!?
Before my new job I was making 25k a year and went on vacations, travelled, did whatever the fukc I wanted to. I don't get the misc's hipsterism with money.

it's all about how you manage your money and whether or not you live below/at/above your means. i know people who make 30-50K and have very good lives because they know money management and never live above what they can afford. i also know people who make six figures but are in crushing debt because they blow everything on alcohol, parties, cars, vacations etc etc
my only indulgence in life is travelling, and if i'm able to do that on 50K ( which you can pretty easily) i'd be happy. of course, having more money can be a good thing, but i would be fine without making 500K a year
