I have problems getting a good nights sleep. I can't seem to get more than 5 or so hours in a night, although in the past few weeks I think Creatine and more water makes me get up at night.
That aside, I have (2) bottles of 3mg melatonin, and am on the fence if I should take it or not? I understand it's about proper timing (take it right before bed?), but where it's a natural hormone, I'm wondering if anyone has seen negative effects from taking it, or has it helped sleep patterns?

It works. Take it 90 minutes before bedtime. I do 3mg. No side effects or dependency issues.

It really depends on what your issue is. Are you having problems falling asleep, or staying asleep? Melatonin might help you fall asleep, but from what myself and friends of mine have found it doesn't help you stay asleep. If you have issues staying asleep look into something like ZMA, or all around sleep aids like ErgoZzz, LiGHts Out, 3Z, etc, etc. Some of those even have melatonin in them.

3mg about an hour or so before bed will be good. It will not have any negative sides since it is a naturally occurring hormone in your body. Melatonin is what triggers your body to sleep so taking it is just forcing that to happen when you want it to happen instead of your body.

I've only ever noticed benefits from melatonin with the only downside being occasionally having to take a bit more.
If the standalone version doesn't do it for you.. check out ErgoZzz as an option where it's combined with ZMAPicking things up and putting them down since '09

You have it already why not just use it and find out for yourself. Melatonin will not knock you out but rather promote restful/deep sleep.

It's too bad you already bought the melatonin. ErgoZzz is B2G1 and it's more of what you're looking for. It also already has 3mg in it too.

I have used it sporadically from time to time and usually had good effects from it. Except over the past year I woke up with two different night terrors linked to anxiety I guess, however both nights I had taken the melatonin. Could just be coincidence but I am not taking it anymore. I had heard of similar instances with melatonin, Although it seems very rare.

Phenibut is srs. Melatonin is like my local bar that I can frequent for a drink a few nights a week.. familiar, predictable. Phenibut is like the crazy club downtown... maybe nice to know about to go to once in a while, provided you give your body to recover, but if you go there every night you're a madman.

A lot of people like it, a lot don't. Me, myself, I also suffer from sleep issues and Melatonin did nothing for me. Try it yourself, theres no need to worry about any side effects. If it doesn't help, there are a lot of great products out there. Ai Sports HGHPro w/ 3Z is what swear by myself. I know I am a little biased ;O) but I really love that stack and never wanna be without it

I love melatonin! I use it almost 5 days a week, as I don't ALWAYS need it. It def gives me some crazy and vivid dreams, but nonetheless I get restful sleep and wake up feeling recovered from intense workouts. I also have some of MP's Bulletproof, it has melatonin in it as well. This helps with recovery also as it is a night time BCAA product. A bit pricey though at $39.99 at my vitamin shoppe.
