    fiber overrated?

Hi I just wondered what people though of fiber? I just started a keto diet and prolly got 8-10 grams yesterday and no real problems going to the bathroom (went later than usual but not bad). For past few months I think I ate way too much fiber (prolly 20-40 grams a day), and sometimes a lot in one sitting (think 10-20 grams). I was also getting diarrhea a lot (sorry for tmi) so I was just wondering if people think fiber is kinda not too necessary.

Obv you should try to hit 12g/1000 cals or so but I've realized eating too much can really mess your system up. Just wondering what others thought?

20-40g is not alot by any means, that is the recommended intake. however i believe fiber intake should be in correlation with carb intake

I'm a firm believer in fiber being extremely overrated, Causes more harm then good in my opinion, it's undigestable food waste for a reason... However this is just my opinion, I've alway's felt way better on low fiber, whenever my fiber intake hit's over 40-45g, I get all bloated, and gassy, and feel like crap, and get blocked up.

I also have problems when it's high, I was hitting upwards of 70g per day when I started my last bulk and was not getting on well with it.

That being said I certainly wouldn't say it does more harm than good. You just have to find a good amount for you. Personally I'm good on anywhere between 30-50

I find that no fiber at all is bad for my, but also too much makes it even harder to pass.

IMO you should find the middle ground.

Fibre is pretty "overrated" in a sense, assuming youre pooping as normal. It is definitely important though for helping your body pass waste, so don't neglect it.

Fiber is fiber. It's not "overrated".. Eat a reasonable amount of fiber for what your body can handle without upsetting your stomach. I generally would keep it around 30-40g, but if that is upsetting the stomach, go a bit lower.
