I didn't know there was a Android thread on the misc!
Saw the HTC One Red couple weeks back when I went to Taiwan...couldn't resist.



If the phone looks a bit glossy it's because of the laminating I put on after I bought the phone.
In Taiwan you can cover the entire phone with thin laminating film for a small fee and I always put them on all my gadgets (also got my Note 8.0 done) if possible. Especially an aluminium phone like the One which can get scuffs/scratches very very easily.

The phone lives up to its reputation indeed...I don't notice much speed increase though (went from Xperia Z) but this phone...turns head everywhere I go.

Yup i recently got my s4 and have been using it for 2 weeks. The only thing i dont like is the quick access camera is disabled from lock screen if you add a pin, i do understand however that quick access to camera from lock screen is actually bad security so i cant blame Samsung, just wish they gave us an option.

I would've totally went for it if I wasn't sick of the design. I went from S3 to Note 2 before going to Xperia Z and the overall look of S4 is pretty much the same as S3/Note2...
I didn't like the HTC One at first either because of the lack of removal battery/SD expansion and those two things rate very highly on my list when it comes to looking for new phones.
But the look of the Red version was enough for me to overlook those two factors...kinda the same way Xperia Z design made me overlook the lack of removal battery over the SG4.

I know a person who's using the SG4 and it is indeed a nice phone, just don't like the design at all.

So I just switched from an iphone to a galaxy s4 for verizon and haven't rooted a phone since my original droid so I'm kinda new to this and have a question.

It hasn't been updated and is VRUAMDK. Should I keep that if I plan on rooting or update to VRUAME7 since that's now able to be rooted?

I still need to look into this more but any advice or explanation would be appreciated.

If you're going to run a custom rom there's no reason not to just root now.

I'm running Mint Jelly, with CM10.1 customizable MMS (the only mod I actually downloaded myself). The ROM itself includes a crap load of customizing options, like Nottach's Xposed and stuff, custom kernel for OCing and all that good stuff, and it has the TW camera and all the features, which is why I'm using it

Told my girlfriend to use the real camera on vacation (Canon G11). what does she use? her Samsung GS3. absolutely horrible time trying to get the Kies software to see the device and I could not get the pictures off of the phone. Why don't these new phones have an option to select how they are used by the computer?

hmm i can confirm i can do the same with my S3 so not a S3 issue lol i dont even have kies on my computer.

Edit: Dark ninja, if u cant using your the USB cable just use dropbox, it transfers all of the pictures i take with my S3 to a dropbox folder automatically (can disable this) but i find it usefull.

Wouldn't using USB MTB mode be easier to transfer off photos/files?

I think the dev has stopped updating it, hasn't responded in the thread for a while now and has stopped updating Nottach's Xposed. The ROM comes with v11 Xposed but you can flash v12 over it

no. My brother works for motorola and says the moto x is was actually drawn up before google even bought them.

Yea the Moto X was already designed and ready to go when Google got Moto, or at least very close. They had to release it or lose the money they could potentially get back from what they spent on R&D.

The next big Moto phone that comes out will for sure be a Google designed one or at least one they had more say in.
