Hai Lori, hai Ms Harwood, hai Jani, hai Hamster!
Did my farmers walks of death workout again today just because it was so fun last week and it kicks my ass. This was 50 minutes with very little rest (few trips to the bubbler to gulp water but that's it.)
one handed waiters carry w/15: 2x around x2 each side
one handed farmers walk w/35: 1x around x2 each side
waiters carry (two handed) w/10s: 1x around x3
uneven farmers walks w/25 & 35: 4x around x2, switching hands on every lap
farmers walk on stairs w/25s: 10x up and down one flight of stairs <--(+10lbs from the first time I tried these, felt like a good weight)
farmers walk w/35s: 3x around x1
Also walked about 2 1/2 miles doing my errands today. After dinner I was supposed to either mow my lawn or go to the CVS and pick up a prescription or both, but I took a nap instead. SO tired."Eat some oatmeal, do some squats, how hard is that seriously."--Prof Ham

I'm discouraged, you guys. I woke up this morning and my low back and hip felt much better, so much so that I figured I might be able to have a good, regular leg or rack pull day tonight. I spent the morning doing laundry and writing, nothing physical. Felt fine. Just went out and mowed my lawn for 20 minutes, up and down a little incline, come in and my back hurts again. Just from mowing? I don't know why I'm tightening up so much from minimal activity. Now I don't know if I want to work out today or not.

^^^Interesting thought, could be something like that. Drea did you tweak anything during a recent workout? Like a lower back twinge or something? Have you gotten in a deload recently?

Good thought, guise, but this is definitely muscular. Everything around my hips and sacrum is sooooo tight. It doesn't feel like I injured anything but it feels like one wrong move and I'm gonna injure something, if that makes sense. I bailed on going to the gym last night. Foam rolled at home instead.

My hips/glutes/hammies and lower back are a constant battle for me. Every time I bend over I feel a twinge in my back but it's coming from my glutes and hips because I can feel it pulling. All week my hips have been aching from tightness, and my legs keep tingling because of the tightness! I literally have to stretch all day long to keep the aches and pains at bay. lol! So I hear ya. Don't know what to say though except to keep stretching....

What I just ate for dinner:
It's hard to make a piece of grilled fish look exciting, yo. But it was good. Grilled cod and salad with romaine, red peppers, cucumber, yellow cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. Not pictured: ice cream sandwich for dessert. I wanted to make one delicious and healthy meal before it's all sandwiches and Quest bars in my near future
At the gym today I decided to do my farmers walk circuit again. In fact, I decided that for the next month that's gonna be hard to get to the gym, I am going to stick to this. I figure if I can do it two or three x a week, it hits all my muscles (especially if I ramp up the stair work to make sure my legs get hammered), there's a conditioning component to it, and it takes an hour or less, in and out. I may not grow any muscle on it, but I think it will be enough to maintain what I have and maintain my fitness levels, without any chance of hurting myself while adequate sleep and rest are hard to come by. And I intend to do yoga at home before bed as many days as I can to a.) calm myself down so I'm not at that exhausted-but-too-tired-to-sleep point and b.) hopefully fix my damn hips and lower back. That's the plan.
This is today. I made some increases.
farmers walk w/ 45s: .5x around x2 <--(okay, first set I tried using a couple of plates but holy chit, there was no way to hold them that they weren't cutting into my fingers, ouch. So I reverted back to dumbbells. The plate idea would work pissah at the Fancy Pants Y with their rubber coated plates with holes in them, though. Those I could hold without excrutiating hand pain. N E Way, never did 45s before, so that's a PR.)
one handed waiters carry w/15: 2x around x2 each side
uneven farmers walk w/25 & 35: 6x around x2 <--(switched hands each lap as before; that an extra two laps each set)
waiters carry (both hands) w/10s: 1x around x3
one handed farmers walk w/35: 1x around x3 each side <--(one extra set)
farmers walk on stairs w/25s: up and down 1 flight of stairs x10, twice <--(one extra set; may try these with the 30s now that I feel more confident I'm not gonna trip and fall down)"Eat some oatmeal, do some squats, how hard is that seriously."--Prof Ham

Nice PR on the farmers walks! I like your plan for the Hell Month, do what you gotta do. I've had to take a month off of training all together before for injuries, strength went right back to normal in like a week, srs, you'll be fine, a month is nothing. Oh fark, just remembered, you had the surgery layoff last yr, yeah you'll be fine for sure, you are BittyBro - tough, strong, and you have cool looking dinner plates.

I used my fancee plates just cause I knew I wanted to take a picture and I had to excitement-up that piece of fish somehow!
Thanks, Hamster. I'm not worried--well, about this --I think I can maintain. While I ultimately would like to put on more muscle, especially below the waist, I'm happy with how I look now and I don't think it's gonna take much working out to stay here. Hope you guys will continue to visit my journal even while I have NOTHING exciting to report."Eat some oatmeal, do some squats, how hard is that seriously."--Prof Ham

Nice looking fish and pretty dishes!!
Congrats on the farmer's walk PR! Awesome. I bought plates with holes in the side so I could use them in place of dumbells. But you only get 10# increases!!!

What even happened in here today while I was at work??? LOLOL I <3 <3 <3 you guys so much.
Okay, two funny(ish) stories from today.
I had four clients right in a row, all of whom were very nice, blah blah. While I was waiting outside my room for my third one to come out, our aesthetician comes over and tells me she had my last client first for a facial and he's in room A, do I mind just switching over and she'll clean up my room? Sure. She tells me some pertinent medical and logistical info about him and I go along. I knock on the door and go in to find a big 60-ish Indian guy supine on the table and already dozing. I introduce myself and ask what he'd like today, does he just want a little of everything? "Everything," he murmurs and he's back to sleep. So I work on his neck and shoulders and arms and at some point he wakes up enough to mention his feet have been sore, so I promise to work on them, then he's back to sleep again. I do his feet and tibialis anterior and calves and quads and he's still out. I'm thinking, okay, a.) I gotta turn him over and do his back because I've run out of the front of his body, LOL, and b.) he's a big guy, is he gonna be one of these people who have a hard time turning? Plus I have to find the face cradle and a face cradle cover (which obviously the aesthetician wasn't using.) He wakes up to me getting the face cradle out of the closet and I tell him it's gonna be time to turn, but I need to step out of the room for a second to get something I'm missing. He says okay, I leave the room for 30 secs to get the cover, and come back to find he's already turned himself over and has his face on the bare plastic. Clients! I settle him. By the time I start working on his back, he's sleeping again. Wake him up at the end and tell him we're done and I'll step out for him to change. He asks me for my card to give to his daughter and some other relative. He wants to send me a couple clients. Because apparently he really loved that massage he was conscious for for approximately 45 seconds of. ahahahaha
Then on the way home of the train there was this dude who had apparently, shall we say, started his drinking rather early in the evening. He was, like, singing at people on the train. That was his level of drunkenness, 'k? So we're getting to the last stop where they are loading us onto shuttle buses because of construction and I get up and stand at the door so I'll be the first one off that train I'm wearing my massage therapist pants and a tank top because I don't wear my uniform shirt back and forth, and I'm kinda hanging on the pole, so flexing my lats. Mr Eight Tequilas and Three Beers says, out loud, "OMG! She's gorgeous. What.a.body."
So, y'know, I've just been validated by the unconscious and the extremely intoxicated I'm on a roll."Eat some oatmeal, do some squats, how hard is that seriously."--Prof Ham
