This is my opinion as well. His work sells because it's a novelty. Not because his art is objectively worth that much. Assuming that the value of art can be considered "objective", that is.
Perhaps I should say the technical ability doesn't warrant the high price tag.
And yes, I also know many, many artists that are much better than this kid. But there are probably hundreds of thousands of 19-30 year old artists in art school at this level. There is 1 (or whatever) 10-year old at this level.
Not hating. (I don't think.)~ Never Having Kids So Can Save Up For a 4K TV and a PLP Computer Setup Crew ~

He's definitely very talanted. Glad that at least he's getting notority in life, most artists who make it big do so after death.
I will say that the price is outrageous but his ability at that age is impressive. Time and practice, he's definitely put in a lot of both.**Rep Washington Brah's on sight**

Non-artists are easily impressed when it comes to art. But that's how life works?
I know nothing about cars, for example, so any functioning automobile engine might as well be witchcraft. But car buffs would probably be laughing their ass off I compared an engine from a Prius to a... fuk I don't even know. An Enzo? That's a thing right?
And if there's one stereotype I've picked up about rich people is that they are willing to spend a ****load of money on novelties to impress their rich friends.
This painting below sold for $70M.
SEVENTY MILLION!
You think it'd be worth that much if some rich guy couldn't brag about how he paid $70M for a Mark Rothko or whatever? Same deal here. Some rich guy basically paid $50k for bragging rights about how he got a painting from a 10-year old. (That sounded a little weird but you know what I mean I hope.)
That... what? What does that mean? Are you suggesting that if I paid $25 for a painting I would be guaranteed to be able to turn around and sell it for $25? If I went out to an art gallery today and paid $2,500 for a painting... you're telling me that's the same thing as having $2,500 in cash? That I could liquidate it for $2,500 or more guaranteed?
Does that even make sense to you? If I paint a painting tonight, and offer to sell it to you for $500... you'll buy it, right? It'll never lose value. Is that what you're saying? Because if it is I'm about to PM you an offer that I expect you to accept.~ Never Having Kids So Can Save Up For a 4K TV and a PLP Computer Setup Crew ~
