Your opinion on Squats vs. Leg Press

I've been squatting for the past 8 weeks (I've only been working out for 8 weeks now after a 4 year break.)

I'm mentioning that so it doesn't sound as an excuse to not squat, anyways.. So I had a shoulder injury in my left shoulder 4 yrs back. When I started squatting and hand my hands on the bar (behind the neck/trap area) I would feel discomfort in my left shoulder, that seems to have gone away. However, about a week ago during my push day after completing my workout abt 10 mins later I felt a strong pinch/cramp in my RIGHT shoulder, I think it's because I probably went too far down on my last rep on dips.

So anyways I took a week off, I'm being extra careful, doing rotator cuff excercises and stretching more than usual. I'm thinking to take away stress from my shoulder to switch out squats to leg press.
List your opinions and possible pros and cons, this is what I can think of:

    Pros:
    Takes off stress of shoulders
Can switch from P/L/P to P/P/L ( I don't like my back sore during squats, attention goes elsewhere)

Lots of guys who have shoulder issues use a safety squat bar, it takes away any pressure on your shoulders

I've heard leg pressing can screw up your back so I just squat and do leg extensions. I dunt know if it's true though.
