25 years ago you could be chemically castrated for engaging in "sodomy" in this country, absolutely barbaric. The kind of thinking that was part of that sort of legal system didn't go away overnight and still colors attitudes and laws today. If you have any basic amount of empathy for your fellow man (and preferably a scientifically based worldview), you would realize it's not just some nonissue people like to whine about. People complain because of the circumstances, and in a free society they have the right to complain and will continue to do so until their grievances are met. You get annoyed by seeing gay rights shyt all over ********? Well, you know what would drastically cut down on it? Gay rights.

Gay supporter here. But I dislike it when they get prissy over little things.

What?!?!? LOL
By rampant homophobia you mean all the states legalizing gay marriage and support they receive openly on any public forum?
Where is all this hate you speak of? Gays are a #trending lifestyle, brah. I don't get how idiots still think gays are persecuted and drug behind trucks or something... this is 2013.
You can't go 5 minutes without hearing about gay rights and gay pride
Exactly. So you like cocks. Neat. Idgaf. Stop acting special because of who you choose to have intercourse with. I support your right to marry, and voted for it. Now leave me alone.
Exactly how I feel, rights AND RESPONSIBILITIES, not preferential treatment because of who you decide to sleep with.
I care more about a person's character than who they sleep with. You could fck homeless people for all I care.
Which is probably why you're so delusional to the fact that there ISN'T much gay hate (if at all) in America. Sure, the news will bombard you with right-wing fanatics like WBC, but that is what, ONE group of a handful of people. Not even a whopping 1% of the American population?
If you honestly believe gays are still persecuted and hated, and have it SOOOOO bad here in America, then you're a liberal idiot who needs to turn off the news and go outside for a while.

What are you Fox news? You took that reply so far out of context. Here's my quote;
It was in regards to gay rights advertisements and parades. We don't have them here. Which is why I said I only see them on the news.
You won't find a gay man or woman who will tell you they haven't been discriminated against. The hatred still exists. And until they no longer feel any shame for being gay, their "agenda" isn't complete.Toxic Masculinity

Well then I apologize if I misunderstood what you were saying. It may be a regional issue then, I've certainly never been to Montana. And I certainly don't know anyone in my state who is homosexual and "discriminated" against - if anything, they are given preferential treatment to avoid anything being misconstrued as "homophobic". I'm not denying hatred exists, I'm saying there's a colossal difference in "discrimination" and someone who morally objects, and isn't OK with it. America doesn't have to be 100% ok with anything. We have the right to make our own choices, so long as we are not hurting others. Isn't that what equality is all about? Equality means that gays can be gay, and people that disapprove can continue to disapprove.
The "agenda" comment sounds a bit irresponsible to me. Do you not think things are going too far in some cases?
I'm all for gay marriage, but how far do things have to go before we can say gays are "accepted" and "treated equal"?
Until they no longer feel "shame" ?? That's a pretty subjective thing to base an "agenda" for a whole country on, don't ya think?
So the minute anyone anywhere calls them a fgt, there are no gay rights and all gays in america are hated on and discrimnated against? What happens to the rights of those that disagree with homosexuality?
Oh, they just don't matter because they're not the popular majority opinion?
Please clarify this.
I'd like to understand. I support people having sex with/marrying who ever the hell they want... I really do, and I have no moral issues with homo/bi/trans/whatever. I just think some of it is going too far, and we should just aim for EQUAL and stop there.
I'm so mad brah, you can't even fathom.

also, OP... I feel like these threads should be a pretty clear cut indicator of how little hatred actually exists. (Feel free to check other forums, if you'd like more evidence and don't feel the misc sufficient)
The main gay threads that pop up here have been filled with ~80% people saying they truly don't give a chit. Pretty tolerant, if you ask me. All they ask is that people don't shove it down their throats in return.

The same way I feel about the excessive use of the n-word in rap.
I don't care.
It's not my job to police speech and tell people that they have to revamp their vernacular to avoid offending someone who doesn't have tough skin.
Also, you're making a bold correlation; the use of the word fgt is often used in the same manner as you'd call someone a dumbass, or sht-head. It's a lot different if someone says "bro, quit being a fgt", than someone saying "Oh I hate dem fgts I hope they all get aids and burn in hell!"
I would hope you're adult enough to differentiate the two, and not read so far into it, but you may/may not be listening to too much Mackelmore if you're really that upset about "callin each other *******s behind the keys of a message board"
Cliffs:
- would neg a$$holes for hating on someone and bashing them for liking the same sex.
- wouldn't bat an eyelash if someone was joking around calling each other fgts
