don't count protein that isn't from animals?

hey, i recently go told not to count protein that isn't from animals, e.g peanuts, cheese, etc. But is this true and if so why? it would be 100 times harder for me to just eat protein from chicken, turkey etc all day everyday as i dont have much money and im only 17 and still live at home.

Protein is protein. It doesn't matter where it comes from.

1: cheese counts as an animal protein. Whey is a high quality protein like most dairy extracts.
    2. Ignore it... as long as you're not trying to get the majority of your protein from soy, or eating entire meals compromising of just brocolli and lentils it won't apply to you.

What you're most likely referring too is "complete vs incomplete protein". However, you can still get "complete protein" that doesn't come directly from animal sources. Therefore, not counting protein that isn't from animals, is stupid.

Not true their is complete and incomplete protiens ...example beans are incomplete and chicken is complete. But as long as you combine the two you will be fine... For people who arent vegans its not really a problem. So to answer your question count all protein

The point is that the proteins in cheese are an animal byproduct and therefore they are complete proteins, different from vegetable proteins from plants such as soy or brocolli. Complete vs Incomplete proteins are only relevant if you're a vegan or have a very close to vegan diet. An average individual on a normal diet will get mostly complete proteins anyway, so it'd be wrong to avoid counting certain ones.
