holy chit, u r a legend mate.
On another note, I tried DE shaving for the first time.
Cliffs:
-Had hard time doing my lather, it was too dry so i added more water and then made it way too wet.
-Cut myself too many damn times, leading to irritation. i have a habit of applying to much pressure
-felt like a bawse
-have some irritation, probably caused by too much pressure and ****ty technique
I also have a white layer of some soapy looking stuff on my razor that doesnt wash off with water, I have to rub it with my fingers for it to come off. Is this just residual soap and am i supposed to remove it?Last edited by khuong1994; 06-06-2013 at 05:02 AM.

Did my first yesterday and managed to do it without cutting myself somehow.... I watched a couple of this guys videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XTh7AAlJDE) before trying it, he uses longer strokes, but I used really short ones and it worked well. Letting the razor's weight do the work is definitely key.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Everything will come with time man. It takes practice. Lather, technique, etc. I remember when i first started i couldn't get my soaps/creams to lather worth the damn. As time passed I got better and better. Finally,I thought I had an awesome lather. Then I tried with distilled water. THEN I had an amazing lather lol.
As for technique, pressure and angle are really the key. Pressure...light. Best way to describe angle is "You don't want to rake leaves". It's not a "raking" angle. It's a CUTTING angle. You want the blade to be as perpendicular to the hair as possible.
The soap scum is easy. Scrubbing bubbles and an old toothbrush does the trick."There are no victims, only volunteers. You volunteer by looking uncertain and afraid. You volunteer by being, as grass-eaters invariably are, unprepared to confront the hazards of life." - Col. Jeff Cooper

Tried using a DE razor for the first time last week and wow. It was an awesome shave. Didn't cut myself which was good. In the last week, I've cut myself like 3 out of 5 shaves.
I'm not very good at making lather. Need to watch more videos and get more help on this skill
The shave has been smooth and super smooth. The girlfriend likes it more.
As an African American male I suffer from the constant pain of razor bumps. It seems to help the bumps but I have razor burns on my skin leaving blemishes. Any tips for helping razor burns men?

not sure bout the brush, but its a great lil travel emergency brush, i got the sandalwood kit, in a smaller size to just try it out....I like it a lot, but its just a spendy line of products.....but if you got the scratch I think its solid, though some on here might not agree, but you kinda have to feel your way around...I like the smell....not really sure how much help the oil really is, i stopped using shave oil and focused on lather combo of glycerin soap and a cream....but hey man give it a shot and let us know.
But all that said once more, you could probably save money just getting shave cream and after shave not really sold 100% on using oil as well....+Proverbs 28:1[Misc.Pastor]Jeremiah 20:9+

Eh....it depends on the splash. Also depends what you treat your face with. A lot of dudes i know won't bother with a balm. They use an unscented high quality lotion (Kiehls) and then apply a splash while they shave. Also, some people have skin types that don't agree with balms. My skin is one of those types.

My mum had an old opened Prada aftershave balm (4+yrs) lying around, I used it and it stung like a bitch. I did however have a few cuts and some irritation on my face is this normal?
It also sucks that we straya brahs cant get a lot of cool products over here =[Last edited by khuong1994; 06-07-2013 at 08:17 AM.

I shaved my stomach and chest with my DE razor for the first time. Definitely better than using an electric. I also layered directly on my body instead of in a mug like I normally do for my face and I got an immensely better lather. Apparently trying to lather in a smooth mug isn't a good idea

That amazon art of shaving deal is pretty good ..you'd pay nearly 150 for that in a retail store.
Still searching for the GOAT alcoholfree after shave. It is most definitely NOT AoS. I don't care for theirs. Father's day is coming up and people want to buy me gifts, so whats the best of the best brahs?Selling GIT for $100 shipped domestically. -- Fragrance Crew / Wet Shave Crew Representin!!
