How do you guys find local meets?
I am sure I can find meets some where in my state but I am looking for a truly novice section.
Also what are some good weights to be doing before entering.
I am sure I will not be at the weights you guys suggest, but I am just looking to have fun.
By the way I am 190 ish.Pigs get feed. Hogs get slaughtered.

I'd say as long as you can snatch 45kg and cj 45kg you're good to go in a competition. Any lower and it might be embarrassing and I am not sure if they even allow the technique plates to be used on a 20kg bar in competition.

went to a non-official high school meet yesterday for fun. my last snatch warmup was the same weight as the heaviest clean and jerk (besides my own).
it was kind of a dick move on my part because the kids didnt know how to do the lifts at all (football players, wrestlers, etc). but a lot of them were stupid and full of themselves so whatevsGym lifts (PB): C&J: 132.5k, Snatch: 107.5k (p)Jerk: 138k, Clean: 137k Front Squat: 153
Deadlift: 455, Squat: 380(oly) 360 (pl), Bench: 245, CPUs: 9001
Comp Total: 237k

Ha, I think about this everyday. Well maybe not everyday.
I mean they can not be that worried about seeing if these kids are actual in high school. You could just show up with a friend as your coach and say you are from a local high school that no one else is representing.

This is just me being excited, but:
My backsquat has basically stalled at 140kgx2~ for about 7 months. I never feel squats in my legs anymore. Heavier attemps I just can't push through to get it up. My legs are never sore though. My squat routine would basically work up to heavy triples; of various weights.
Today after doing 127kgx3, I decided I wanted to try higher reps, and did 114kgx11.(difficult, but not a 'max' volume) I actually felt like I had to push through this set! And afterwards, my legs were/are actually sore!
Going to be doing a lot more higher rep sets now...hopefully I finally see backsquat progress.

soreness means nothing...
sometimes if you stall you may need more hypertrophy to continue improving...
with my training and i am not an o lifter... if i stall at a rep scheme i simply change it and continue... and or the volume... easy... you should never really stall except for dam injuries...

Did you know you were the first mod to rep me? And once I got mod repped and I had some decent rep power, the reps just started rollin in. So many thanks to you brah.
My best single is 211, but I've done 206x3. Right now I feel like I am good for probably 220ish. I'll max in a few weeks to see where I'm at.The best Weightlifting forum on the web:
