First off....again thanks guys so much for the support. I really want to thank those that encouraged me to compete. I really enjoyed it. I think I will be doing this more often. There is a big sanctioned meet in June coming to our area. Think I might give it a shot for all 3 lifts. (If I can heal my leg).
Again....I am truly grateful to those that have helped me do this. I did not do it by myself. There were several guys on here who really helped me zero in on some form issues I was having.
Now I know why guys, after they compete for the first time, tell others they ought to try it.....it was a lot of fun!...and ALL the lifters there want to see everyone do their best. Really is a nice environment. So now I will say it!.... If you are thinking about it, you guys should really get out and do a meet...it is a lot of fun
I ended up in 220 as I weighed in at 205. ( I knew I would be heavy) I could have dropped into 198 fairly easy, but I just figured I would go into it as I was. I was not worried about doing anything other then my best and to learn from the experience.RAW lifts

I had to bump this over
Fantastic work ... Even that 620 looked smooth and easy. No sign of a sticking point at all so that 630 would've been yours
FTW @ 3xBW in a meet
Great looking support team and cool trophy!

Thanks again all!
Feeling just a little sore this morning (in a good way). Now I am excited to get back to the grind. I know I have a few more lbs in me. Would be cool as heck to take down a few national records
My wife snapped a few pics I thought I would share. I just like them because it is neat to see the bar yielding. It is flash backs for me to that iconic pic of Franco deadlifting some massive weight and the bar just drooping in his hands. It was something I always wanted to feel.

Nice family pic too.No brain, no gain.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Especially ones about the family. I will surly boast about gym accomplishments, but I am FAR more proud and feel how lucky I am to have a great wife and kids. Competing really for the first time, allowed my wife to experience some of what I really enjoy about lifting. Afterwards she told me she had a great time and would love to see me do it again! Hearing her and my kids cheering me on felt really good.
I believe I will compete again. I would like to do a full power meet. There is one in June in my area by a good Fed. The biggest thing standing in my way right now is squatting with this pulled muscle. I have talked to others, and if I suffered a partial tear, it could be 5-6 months to fully heal. ( I am just about 2 months in right now). It does not bother me during deads, but getting down in the hole in squats is tougher.
I could always do "push-pull" (bench and dead). I will decide in a few weeks. Entry deadline is May 24th.
I am switching into "Bodybuilder" mode for a few weeks. I am going to cut some weight. I been eating big the past 13 weeks. I dont really feel comfortable where I am at and I need to drop about 10lbs. I feel better in the mid to high 190s. (Right now I am 205 am and will hit 210+ as the day goes on). Actually on what I consider the "pudgy" side . This will serve 2 purposes as I will do much better in the 198 class in a big meet and it will also give me a shot at some records.
At a minimum, a 622 would get me on listed on the "Best of the Best" ranking (even in the Open class and not masters) for Powerlifting watch.com. They are the top 100 lifts of all time by class. That is a pretty big accomplishment.
Competing "Masters" that is easily right up there at the top records all time of most Feds.
To me that is both humbling, and also a challenge. It has been almost 20 years since my competitive sport days, but my desire to compete is now stronger then ever. The meet really brought back some of those feelings.RAW lifts
