I'm actually looking for a bar with no center knurl now for deadlifts, over head press, and light oly lifting and not worrying about scraping off some neck, nose, or skull skin which I've done one way to many times.
If I get it I'll certainly give a full review on it. Looks amazing. My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

Wow very nice, Im a big fan of the bright zinc, I like when bars look new like that. Yep I hit myself with the centre knurl on a TPB when doing skull crushers.
EDIT - And only $289, thats a really good price for those specs...Last edited by Accutron; 04-17-2013 at 07:57 PM.

That price also includes a lifetime warranty. Of course doesn't include the usual don't drop it on your pins or bench etc.
Edit: went back and read the warranty and it actually covers the coating as well? I don't think I've seen that
Lifetime warranty against defects affecting the performance of the bar, such as bending, collar spin, knurling defects, or problems with the coating. Warranty covering bending doesn't cover dropping it on a box/bench/spotter arms/pins on power rack.My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

Hi guys- I'm Ryan, co-owner of Rep Fitness. I'm glad you guys are excited about some of the gear we've got coming, including those awesome Olympic bars. I also really appreciated talking to you Craig (GI) and I hope in the future we'll be able to incorporate some of the awesome ideas you had. For now, we are playing it "safe" with the designs and the specs (2x3" 11 gauge with 5/8" bolts) are somewhat "plug and play" with another well known brand so that people can easily add to what they've got using our equipment, or use our attachments with their stuff, etc... We partnered with some guys handling a lot of the design/machining and so we also had to do things they felt comfortable with as well, but as we get going I really do want to try some of the cool ideas we thought of.
As someone mentioned, up until very recently we just re-sold pendlay and troy equipment. As of Friday, we'll be selling our own line of equipment out of our retail store in Colorado, with more and more items becoming available over the next 2-3 weeks. Feel free to pm me here or email me (ryan -at- repfitness.com) and I'll be happy to answer any detailed questions about our gear. I might be slow to respond for a few days though just because of the craziness of opening day on Friday.
As for those bars, we've had some guys pre-order them and of course we'll be doing a full video review and have a lot better photos than what we've got so far once the shipment arrives in a week or so. I fully expect these bars to be worth nearly double the price based on the specs of the steel alone, and we customized the knurl and coating to what we would want in a bar ourselves.www.repfitness.com - Gym equipment manufacturer.

I was browsing the rest of the site and definitely get the feeling of you guys redesigning and trying to position yourselves with another popular crossfit based online business with many bars/racks/etc. available. Good luck and those Excalibur bars look amazing and look forward to more pics and vids.

What don't you like with the knurling or coating type? For oly lifts you don't want sharp knurling and the medium knurling gives a good multiplurpose grip for both slow and fast lifts. We don't even really know how it feels yet. The Zinc is a heck of a lot better then chrome. I do like the feel of oxide better or bare steel but Zinc wont scratch off as easily as oxide or chip as easily as chrome or be as slick feeling as chrome. A lot of bars are going with Zinc now. Popular ones are the texas power bar and just about all the rogue bars. Ivanko's power bar I believe is oxide along with the cheap but popular Cap bars.

Yes, we've got the prototypes in our showroom now and we've finalized the designs, so we're moving them into production and we'll have them available for order in a couple of weeks. Lots of different options- 2,3,4 foot deep power racks, 6 footer with weight storage, 90 inch wall mount, collapsible wall mount (folds up against the wall), squat stand with and w/o pull-up, etc...
Yeah I've found that zinc oxide just takes more upkeep because it will eventually rust, and bright zinc is basically maintenance free and looks great. I chose it because I really like the Pendlay Nexgens that have that coating. Also I agreed with your assessment of medium knurl, it's a nice multi-purpose knurl but as with any knurl "medium" is subjective and we'll see how it compares.www.repfitness.com - Gym equipment manufacturer.

That is a beautiful barbell. I hope go be able to buy one some day but I just bought a different brand, and it's going to have to last for a while.
But what I might buy real soon are a set of 10lbs bumpers. I've got some other brands and even being as gentle as possible with them, they're warped. They warp just sitting and supporting the bar. I like to use them for Olympic warmups and my wife likes to use them for everything, but they just don't hold up. Yours look amazing. When will you have some in stock?

I like the specs and will be interested in the video review. The steel sounds awesome. I intend this only as constructive criticism and I realize it is purely aesthetic but I also don't like the end cap at all. I would have preferred a plain metal end cap. The end cap looks like the padded stickers on some dumbbells--I don't like those either. I realize that the image is your logo but it doesn't work well as a small icon on a webpage or a small image on a barbell end cap. I think it would be much better to keep it simple... like Rogue. Who would have thought people would shell out $20 for a t-shirt that has the letter R on it. Lol! Branding/Marketing is one thing that Rogue does exceptionally well. Sorinex's mustache is another good example of simple logo that works well as a small or large image (and it's much cooler than the R). At the most, I would just put "Rep Fitness, One More Rep, Elite Bar" as the branding an leave the logo image off. That's not nearly as important as the function of the product and I'd much rather you make great products than cool logos but I think your marketing guys need a kick in the butt. From the specs it sounds like a really nice barbell. I'm looking forward to the review.

I thought I was going to get my arse kicked for commenting on something as trivial as the end cap, but it seems I'm not alone.
Rogue branding is good on some of thier bars, but my favourite is the TPB; just the simple state outline with a bit of writing and it looks great. Ivanko, and Elieko bars have it right too. Nothing that can break, scratch, or peel off. Also they work because they place the focus on the bar and not the company- a guy holding kettlebells... on a barbell.. looks a bit naff IMO.My training log:

I can do without the kettlebell guy but in general I like the look of the end cap. Gives it a little pop compared to just another piece of shiny cold metal.

My favorite are the Ivanko end caps. If it's something that's easy to change for future runs, it might be worth considering a change. I doubt it's worth changing now. If it's a good bar and priced right, it will sell even with hello kitty end caps. It's just not that important.

I was going to order a new bar for my bday on April 30th, but maybe I'll hold on and see how these bars shape up. I like the looks of it so far!

Just Ordered!!
I've been looking around at a lot of bars for a while now for different purposes. This one fits the bill for hopefully my final bar unless I become more and more like GI. I was looking for a 28mm, little to no whip, medium knurling, anything but chrome, dual ring, no center knurl. Everything out there at 28mm was designed for whip or like the Ivanko obx-20kg or texas power bar had sharp aggressive knurling or has chrome plating which I just can not stand or single ring for oly or pl. I also didn't really want to spend too far over $300. I was about to go with the CAP OB-86B or PB when I ran across this bar. GI had a post referencing a video by rep fitness of the aob-1500 and checked out their site.
Also, FYI check out their coupons link on the bottom of the page. You can at least get like $5 off just for liking their ******** page.My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

It looks like it is a great bar at any price and an exceptional one at the price it is sold for. But as far as whip I would expect all 28mm bar of quality steel to whip about the same and more so than bar is 29 to 32 mm I see being sold with crappy steel as long as you don't exceed the yield strength.

True that 28 will generally whip more then a larger diameter. But my understanding is some will whip more then others and mostly depending on the yield strength? Which this bar is very high in. But even if it does whip a lot because of being 28mm and yield strength or anything else has nothing to do with it then I wouldn't have any choice and whip shouldn't have been a qualifier based on my misunderstanding. So I would think this bar would whip less than say a rogue bar.
