No one forces your doorman to be a doorman. He could work toward at making it in a profession which is more valued and so people are better compensated.

    Strong examples

Australia has only 25 million people and sits on an estimated $30 trillion in shale oil and gas alone.

The UK is in a permanent recession and has almost no industry left.

$9 is ok since many employers already start new hires at that level. But $15 would end the recovery.

I'll be shocked if thats not the case by then. Too many people are just that stupid. Plus it looks like the gop may cave on some kind of amnesty deal, millions upon millions of new dem voters to ensure the gop never wins again.

Bill Clinton's fingerprints are still on the economy. Our budget is still in shambles from Reagan. There are lasting effects and sometimes when we say Bush did this, we really mean that he failed to erase the mistakes made by his predecessors or he did erase the positive achievements of his predecessors.

Why would you want to live in a society where you have little hope for having a roof over your head DESPITE working a full time job? We're not giving them a mansion (or anything), we propose that private businesses give them enough money to free them from government help!
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results - Dr. John Berardi

President Obama himself said the contrary when pushing his stimulus and healthcare legislation, but most obama supporters dont take what he says too seriously.

$9 isn't going to be worth **** at the rate he and Bernanke are destroying the dollar.

All it would do is raise the cost of living a little bit, effectively negating the extra money in your pocket.

Why didn't I think of that? Tomorrow I'm gonna go to my job and ask them nicely to give me more money to get me a new house. I mean, since its that easy for every private business to just pay everyone more.

Government welfare programs are catastrophes. I'd rather donate my money to efficient, transparent, private charities/foundations, but the government takes some of the money I would donate to them by force - "Pay your taxes or I'll lock you in a cell." Fuck government funded social programs.

Because a society in which everyone gets a house no matter what they do with their life is a facade. Part of the reason for the economic collapse was the government mandate that buying a house be easier which led to the sub-prime loans.

minimum wage goes up and the cost of living will rise because of businesses compensating for the higher wage expense. Who is Obamas economic advisor? lol. I wonder if minimum wage was ever established to be a livable income.

But the US is a top 10 country for sure....

this is completely arbitrary in fact.

the quality of life you choose to seek is what defines a livable income.

i suppose i could live in a boarding house in the worst part of town and live on crackers and spray cheese.

I am a small businessman. My biggest hurdle is the government...state and federal.

If they were out of the way I could kick all kinds of ass. The advantage "corporations" have over me is the ability to pay regulatory fees.

Get the gov and fees out of my damn way.....

Bu-bu-but I just really like opening doors and I deserve to make as much as someone else who actually contributes something meaningful to society!

Wait, you mean I might actually have to put in some work and innovation other than making a door opening motion? Or that I should just open doors in my spare time?

Woah, are there really doors out there that can open themselves? Those should be outlawed! Also finding a job opening doors is really hard nowadays so I'm just going to leech off welfare and perform the door opening motion with some lotion and my penor all day.
