Fuk man he looks ugly with those legs.
However Arnold's structure is perfect for bodybuilding, aside from his height. He is perfect. Long legs, long chest, great arms, his triceps shape is excellent, short torso, low lats lats, traps are retarded good aswell, good calf insertions. He has wide waist bones, but his hips are tiny. His physique flows perfect.

That's because "legs" was not what the judges were looking for. Otherwise Tom Platz would have a couple of Sandows in his showcase and Zane would have never stepped on stage.
He would look different, I'm not gonna say he would dominate or something, because it's just too hard too tell. Many guys start to look crappy once they start to play the "mass" game. However, Arnold had a huge frame and terrific genetics in terms of muscle growth, he could certainly be in the mix with the top guys.Sports Therapy- & Prevention Major - University of Potsdam

NOTE: I could make a photo-realistic representation of the projected stats in photoshop if you guys want to see? I just need some high-res pics of Arnold standing relaxed from font, side, back.
Original Stats
Height: 6'1
Competition Weight: 235 lbs.
Chest: 57"
Arms: 21"
Thighs: 27"
Calves: 20"
Waist: 34"
Assuming with today's competition weights I would mathematically calculate it something like this: I figure a reasonable competition stage weight would roughly be 280lbs ... leading to a +45lbs increase. He was also not as lean or dry as today's pro's are and feel he could have been 5lbs - 8lbs lighter. Taking this in to account, I will start Arnold at an 8lbs deficit, making his stage weight 227lbs. I will then add these 8lbs back to his physique to put him at the stage weight of 280 lbs with an increase of +53lbs. Factoring in his physiques strong points (i.e. Chest, Arms, Legs) with the weaker body parts (i.e. Calves, Back) we can guesstimate how to distribute the +53lbs properly.
(In relation to his era compared to today's pro's, Arnold's back and calves would have had a higher focus. His legs were big for his time and considered a strength then. We've all heard this argument a million times and no need to really discuss it further).
To adequetly distribute the 53lbs among the areas that would have a higher focus for todays pro's, these are the measurements I calculated (don't feel like posting all the math cuz its on paper).
Comparative Conversion Stats
Height: 6'1
Competition Weight: 280 lbs.
Chest: 59"
Arms: 24"
Thighs: 34"
Calves: 21"
Waist: 35"
I know everyone will have their own opinion on all of this. I'm not right or wrong here, its just an interpretationLast edited by KoncreteKyle; 02-01-2013 at 07:12 AM.

You're right. He didn't train his legs hard whatsoever. I believe he tortured them as much as any other muscle group. His legs just were not up to snuff with some of his upper body. Pardon me for having an opinion on everyone's favorite bb'er of all-time. Last time I checked you can have a voice....it IS a forum.
Do I bother you? I must because you neg me any chance you get. You and two others are about the only negs I get. Is there a problem? Does it upset you if others disagree with people? I could neg anyone when I disagree but most of the time I let it go b/c it can be a discussion. Some can have conversations and not b*$#%, pi$$ and moan when you don't agree with them. Let it go. Go hit some biceps shots with that other idiot Flang.

Ask your mum.
Have to agree to an extent, his mentality combined with those genetics would have made him a force to be reckoned with no matter what, if only he'd been born at a time where he could have competed with big Ron.. (inb4 bodybuilding wouldn't be what it is etc etc..well aware, just sayin)

How does this work? Do I neg you because I disagree with this statement?
I highly disagree. I think Arnold did ALL he could with his physique and was successful. There are absolute freaks onstage and guys who are 5'8" and weigh the same or more than him would win. He simply would not carry the mass overall as other guys do nowadays.

You sound like a angry short guy........oh wait.....you ARE an angry short guy. Way to base your opinion on absolutely nothing.
To assume that Arnold would not have been able to add more muscle is ridiculous. Would he be as dominant.....no one knows, but to just flat out say that he did all he could with his physique is ignorant.

You know what bugs me? Whenever people bring up what Arnold could do today you get people moaning about his legs and saying he wouldn't make an impact etc..but whenever the guy he comprehensively beat (Sergio) is brought up everyone hits out with the "OMG ULTIMATE FREAK" repertoire..what's with all the Arnold hate?
