The knife is great I just wasn't a fan of the polished micarta scales and the stainless steel pins so I asked mr akers about getting another matched set, 6" camp knife and another 3" recurve hunter with ash crotch scales. Now I'm just waiting to see if these show up for my birthday in a few weeks or if I have to trade out the wifey for a new one.

Sold a few off actually. Only new acquisition was a buck strider 889 that I traded for and its got great ergos. There is actually a new benchmade flipper that I kind of want and I'm thinking of getting onto the koster list for a muck but I dunno. Would have to sell something to offset the cost.
Anyone considering a midsized fixed blade, howes knife shop has the dpx heft 4 and 6 for below cost."I'm not like most girls." -most girls

Found out something interesting the other day. Ka-bar owns the trademark 'zombie' as it pertains to knives. There are around 500 trademarks on the term zombie for various products btw. Anywho, the ka-bar brand is owned by cutco. Cutco's marketing arm is vector marketing, neither of them have a good reputation and they are well known as a pyramid scheme product. They are banned from /r/knives for instace. How is kabar wrapped up with those guys? I have no idea. Also worthy of note is that their company came from case and alcoa, both western PA companies. The more you know.

DPX is coming out with a couple of new knives under the dpx and blackwater brands. Hnnnghhhh. They are also apparently moving production of at least some of their knives back to rowen from ontario. Not sure if that means they are abandoning the lionsteel knives also, hope not.
and a larger version of the hest. eep

no thats a new one. the one that exists currently is the dpx hest folder. There are 2 revisions of it but only 1 folder. Its first version had some serious issues with manufacturing but apparently ryp replaced them en masse which was pretty cool considering the cost. I didn't get one.

Same guy made a thread bragging about breaking it over on the esee forum then deleted it after people started mocking him. He deleted his post when he started getting ridiculed but someone recapped:
he threw the knife a couple of times, chopped/stabbed into cinder blocks, and batonned the spine with a rock, etc... He said he cut/stabbed rocks too and broke the knife trying to pry a metal plate out of concrete. Basically by being a complete idiot and then had the sack to send it in for warranty replacement. He also for some odd reason lied about how long he had the knife etc...

thats a nice looking knife. That finger grooved handle looks a lot like the stuff blackwater has been turning out.
I'm still searching for the perfect camp knife. Next up is going to be a koster muck.
I've never resharpened 3V steel and hear it can be a chore so we'll see how it goes."I'm not like most girls." -most girls
