Yeah, I figured he wouldn't take money from you guys; I was just curious about the real estate prices there. It's pretty much the same here (actually, I think it's gotten more expensive in my city).
I remember you'd posted a few pictures of this cute, cozy place several weeks ago. I was under the impression you were renting that place.

I KNOW! Look at this place, for example! 850, utilities included! Look at the features! There's a gym at this place! We're going to try for a whole level in an actual house, but this gives me lots of hope! I'm so excited! lol!

and this one: 500!

Even this one for 725:

Those are ALL nicer than the place we're in now. lol!
Its cool though- the train is outrageous, but we only spend 65 dollars a month for unlimited bus usage. We're planning on getting a car though before next September!!!Last edited by gobbles23; 12-28-2012 at 05:55 AM.

It's like that in Edmonton too! We had the option of going there with my brother + his fiance or coming here, and we chose here because the cost of living was lower while the wages are the same!
What's minimum wage where you are? Down here it's 10.25, and I only make a few dollars more than that at the moment since I'm with a stupid hiring agency. I'd die paying that a month! Hahahahaa! It's even better living with someone- because if we got a place for 650, that's only 325 eachTeam Cookies Give You Superpowers

Minimum wage here is $8. (Higher than the federal minimum which is $7.25.) So, yes, housing is very expensive.

It's way expensive to live here too you can't even get a studio for $800 a month and everything is full for months because of the oil boom. It's funny Midland is one of the wealthiest cities in terms of average salary per capita in TX and there is not shiz here except but tumbleweeds and hillbillies
Here's a thought why don't you find one you really like and offer the upstairs guy a $100-$150 dollars less and see if he will take it. That way you get a great bargain or live where you really like win win either way. The upstairs is vacant right?Squat 275 Bench 175 Deadlift 285 Snatch 140 Clean & Jerk 185

Oh, wow!
That's a great idea! I may do that I don't know though- the very top beautiful loft w/balcony is taken now, that's the one we wanted in the beginning because it's the whole top floor. Really spacious and bright, but he actually wanted 1024 for that one, and now it's gone. The other floor is split into two separate apartments, and we could have one of those but they're small and old looking- like andrews but a bit more modern.
The biggest problem with the building we're in now is that we don't have any access to washers/dryers, there's nowhere to hook one up, and we keep having to go to the laundromat which we never do so we end up handwashing/hang drying everything. lol! Plus the building is super old and has a bunch of problems. I don't know why andrews even there. So it's a bit of a toss up, really. I do like the area, but there are so many other apartments in the area. I like your haggling idea though Hahaha!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

I know, it's AWFUL! lol! It takes 3 whole hours out of our day. That's what I was thinking too, but the place is so damn small and cluttered as it is We're going to start buying appliances and stuff too to go in our apartment in the next few months so when we get a place we'll have things to put in it, and those things need to be stored as well......Blah! I may actually look into one though. They must be cheap now though, hey? You know those stupid old fashioned ones that you wash clothes in partially manually that you hook up to the sink? Going to go google Wait, do they even still make those?

Are you talking about a semi-automatic one? The one where you have to manually remove all washed clothes and then put them in the dryer? We had that one for two decades (National); it was pretty darn good. Now we have a full automatic one, where you just dump the clothes, then detergent, then press the power button and one more, and you're set. Doing the laundry isn't a chore at all. Also, I have no idea if they make those old machines anymore. You might be able to have some luck on Craigslist, though.
P.S. Make sure your water outlet isn't screwed. Mine had some issues, so I just let it drain into the bathroom.

You know those ones where you pour the water/soap in, it washes, and then it drains and you put it in the wringer for the clothes to wring, and then you hang it up? That kind But Stephen says they probably don't make those anymore- I can't find one and we have no room for a real one Or a hook-up, so our only option is to wait until we move. Booo!

HAI GUYS! How's it going!? That sh*tty old workout I did last night made my pecs and triceps sore already! lol! Shoulder workout today! Also going to go get Stephen a pair of boots. Poor guy has nothing to wear on his feet in all this snow! That's not happening as long as I can help it. And a few other fun little errands to run today, and that's about it! Motivated as ever to get an apartment, while keeping our home gym in mind. We're going to also buy a bench when we get our own place, a Powertec bench and a new rack and d.b's and everything. It is going to be AWESOME. We're planning on getting started on that soon. House in 1.5 months, then house hold appliances/furniture for 0.5 months, probably 3 months from now Wooot! No more caveman workouts!
Feeling SO FAT these past few days. Haaha! Really looking forward to starting my new plan on Tuesday. I'm really going to do it this time! Be back later!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

How exciting getting your first place soon! Right now we are in a one bedroom, one bath that has all appliances for $680 a month and its pretty big. We pay utilities and pet rent which isn't too bad unless its the electric bill in the summer. Just keep in mind that having a home gym in place that is second story and higher may cause a lot of noise for the people down below. That's the main reason I haven't moved more than dumbbells into the apartment yet. Can't wait to get into our own house!
UD2 Mass you say? This gonna be good!If this were easy, everyone would walk around ripped.
I like eating, it helps with the not dying.

Really? You mean the ones with the washing place and a rinsing place? I can't find them- I looked at store web sites, on kijiji, on Amazon like you said. Did you just type "washing machine" into the search bar?? I tried those terms and I tried "washers" too, but no go
Ahh! Good point! I always thought the reasoning was because the second floor might give out- I didn't even think about the noise! After you said that, we decided to go for a nice, bright basement apartment. Hahhaa! Cooler in the summertime, anyways We're both so excited! Having andrew gone home for 3 weeks made us realize what we were missing out on.
I can't wait to get back to a plan! I feel like I'm all over the place, eating too much or too little at all the wrong times, burning myself out with all the walking I'm doing every day, missing workouts everywhere.....A plan sounds fabulous!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Thanks! Not sure about that- are they really expensive? I mentioned it to Stephen and he said real d.b's would be better/more affordable because then if we want to use two different weights at the same time, we can. We'd have to buy 2 sets of adjustable d.b's. Are they expensive? More than $100 for a set??
Hahaa! There as nothing form finding or easy about that workout though- it was tough as hell! I just felt weak and everything was heavy- I lowered most of the weight and still struggled! lol!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

No. You have to just buy the rods, depending on what kind of plates you have at home. The older plates come with a one inch hole and the newer ones (like you see in all modern gyms) come with a two inch hole. If you own the 'newer plates', ask the dealer for Olympic dumbbell rods. The cost or iron is the same, unless you go for those fancy, vinyl coated ones.

Ugh, lost my post. Ok, cliffs!
- Didn't do shoudlers yesterday- shoudlers too sore
- Tired maxing out on deads- failed miserably. lol!
- Will re-do leg wokrout today and keep reps higher
- UD2 Mass on Tuesday
- Layer of squish increased- back to 125.4lbs but happy since I look completely different than last time (probably water anyway from chocolate and alochol diet)
- But will keep total cals at ~1800 and see if I can make some recomp magic happen
- First 3 workouts of UD2 mass are kept in the hgier rep range as well
- This s good since this is my 5th lifitng week and I always seem to need a break from heavy then
- Cornish hens for supper! We have a tiny chicken each So excited! WIll feast after today's leg workout! Hahaa!
- Picture of chocolate's we collected:
- Save me from myself! lol! I've been limiting myself to 3-4 pieces a day, but holy moly. Once you start eating this stuff daily it's hard to stop! It's SO GOOD!
- Anyway, be back later with workout/videos! Ging to try some front squats with the barbell in the corner today! Hahaha!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Nah, I hate those hex ones. They're only good if you are rich. Just buy two (or four) DB rods and you're set. If you need more weight, just buy a few more plates. Only disadvantage is that if you do ramped sets, you have to adjust both the dumbbells, which can be a pain sometimes.
