    Smile Water Weight Question

Hi everyone, haven't posted on here in a while. So my question is whether losing 6.3 pounds of water weight in the first week of eating clean and going to the gym is normal? So back in 2015 I decided to eat better and was going to the gym about 3 times a week. I am 5'9 and started at 215 and went all the way down to 168 in about 7 or 8 months last year. Once midterms and finals were starting this past school year i slowly stopped watching what i ate and stopped working out. So from October 2015-June 2016 I gained about 13 pounds and was up to 181.

I finally got off my ass this Monday (6/6) and decided to make a change (again), and have been eating about 1900-2000 calories a day of good food (no junk) aiming to get about 150-180 grams of protein each day. I've gone to the gym a couple times to lift and I also walk a lot living in the city. I also drink a lot of water throughout the day.

As of Monday (6/6) I was 181.1 pounds and this morning (6/10), I am 174.8 pounds. I know when you start eating better water weight is the first thing to go, but over 6 pounds is a lot isn't it? That's basically saying that over the past 8 months that I fell off the wagon, half of what I gained was water. That just doesn't seem right.

    Can anyone explain this?
    Thanks in advance.

Seems normal. Some water, some glycogen depletion, some fat loss from your deficit.

Sounds normal to me. It is actually quite amazing how much water weight you lose simply by depleting carbs a little at the onset of a diet. But just understand that chances are you will gain part of that water weight back.
The nation-state and society seek to control the body in a myriad of subtle ways, so if you are going to fight for the right to do with your body what you please, why not make it a battleground worth fighting for? ;)
