Why do people get so offended when you tell them you don't drink?

Anyways, taken on it's own, not drinking should be considered admirable. Unfortunately, human behavior doesn't exist in a vacuum. Unless their body just can't handle alcohol, I've yet to meet a person who doesn't even have a single drink who doesn't have some personality issues. Like a man my age who talks about peer pressure.

Ok aside from OP clearly being a *******, if you live in a westernised culture which I'm sure you probably do, you should try alcohol at least once or take up an offer from a friend. Alcohol has long been regarded as a social leveller, and the act of communal drinking as a means of communication between those of different ranks and status in society. If you dont wana fit in with your society then so be it, don't complain when others say you're weird or get offended. If you have never had a drink you are weird!!! Alcohol is a symbolic vehicle for identifying, describing, constructing and manipulating cultural systems, values, interpersonal relationships, behavioral norms and expectations. If you wana fit in with a socially significant identity then have a ****ing drink with your mates dumb ass. People obviously get offended when you say you don't like something that they like use your brain OP. I agree with OP. I drink casually but I often turn it down. It's incredibly annoying to have people constantly pester you to drink.

I don't like going to bars and paying absurd amounts of money for an activity that I don't really enjoy anyway. Then you have all the negative after-effects the next day. I can get laid without alcohol...

I live in Ireland where everyone drinks from 15 to 70.
If someone says they're not drinking, the response is "are you taking antibiotics? Oh your driving?".

I don't get offended when people don't drink, its more i just don't trust them.

Non drinkers are always the ones who will come to a bar and just listen to what other people say so they can use it for blackmail later on.

Now i'm not saying that all non drinkers are .like that, but I have had bad experiences with them just standing their and listening.
