Ive posted on quite alot of forums and most of them never had a 'rep system'. I think the rep system seems to make people more interested in their 'user cp' than anything else. I think without this there would not be as much 'kissing ass' going on.
what's your opinion?

Did you even think before you made this thread? Or is it because it's really late--or early depending where you live--and it prevented you from making this with sound judgement?
As someone else said, there would be no motivation and sadly, a fear factor posters to help or berate others. Every thread would be several times worse with famous MISC sayings like, "Oh hai misc LOL."

It should not be removed, while it's not perfect it does give an indication on who is and is not a good poster.
I have been Michael's number two guy for about five years, and we make a great team. We're like one of those classic famous teams. He's like Mozart and I'm like Mozart's friend. No, I'm like Butch Cassidy and Michael is like Mozart. You try and hurt Mozart, you're gonna get a bullet in your head, courtesy of Butch Cassidy.

They'll never remove the rep system. Just don't take it too seriously and spread the wealth. Sometimes if I rep someone for a good post I'll just spread the wealth to the other folks in the thread with low rep power. It is a pretty good indication of who is a troll and who is not (red vs. green), although the actual rep power number doesn't mean too much.

LOL uhhh not gonna happen. Sorry but the rep system was much more corrupt originally and it wasnt scrapped then its sure not going to be now.
Don't you think it's funny that if I grab a woman's ass and she punches me, she's fighting for her rights, but if a ******* grabs my ass and I punch his lights out, I'm a homophobe?

I find that the rep system helps people know who is not to be listed to on the boards for exaple everyone knows not to take anything that WSsicks says as the truth. but we do know that people who are high in teh green usually make informative or funny posts and are to be listened to more then people in the red.

depends, if you're in the red you're considered a "troll", but heaps of people in the nutrition and exercises section are in the red but always have extremely helpful posts. for example someone could always provide helpful posts but say he get's one neg from BPP for whatever reason then BOOM he's in the red and considered a troll

they could just change the name of it to like,,, "cool points." Then you can go around asking for "cool points" instead of reps. People would see another guy and be like "wow, he has a lot of cool points, lets hang with him." while others could be like, "wow, he doesnt have a lot of cool points, lets try to avoid him but not make it obvious." That way people will worry more about being cool and not repped. just sayin..

It may improve the Misc, but the rest of the forum uses it to gauge the credibility of advices given.

I'd rather see a system where your rep doesn't really effect your rep power. I mean if your helping someone in a serious section and they rep you, your most likely getting greys from someone new. If you post a witty comment in the misc you get a huge bump from someone who doesn't need help with their exercise plan.

Sometimes, I feel it's not fair.
I provide good, honest, beneficial advice in the other forums hoping to get repped, but I don't.
Then I see people who post girls and get easy reps, or posters (high rep people) that post nonsense and get still get repped. Mainly because I guess lower rep people rep them in hopes of getting it back.
