shoulder injury - what exercises can I do?

Am on track with my diet and was on track with my weights until 2 days ago when I woke up with a terrible shoulder pain. I cannot lift my arm at all or do anything with it. I will wait a week or two before I see a doctor. But in the mean time can I still do some cardio, and legs?

Any advise on exercises without using my shoulders would be much appreciated.

I'd recommend waiting a few more days to see if the pain dies down before doing weight lifting or cardio of ANY sort, even if it's not primarily arm/shoulder-based. The arm is used in balance in general/gripping, so tread carefully. Are there any activities in particular that you can't do or is your shoulder completely shot (i.e. you're typing your post with your good arm)?

Also, any particular reason why you're waiting a whole two weeks to get your shoulder checked out? If it's been two days and you're still having problems, it's most likely going to need some help, and if it disappears on it's own, without knowing exactly what and where this pain is coming from, it'll probably come back.

Deload for a week or so, use your time to ice and rest it. It may very well be resolved by that point, but if you bother it more now then this may be a huge pain in the ass injury that takes months to heal. Could be a strain which is nothing serious - if you give it proper rest!

It seems like the pain died down just a little bit from last night but I cannot lift it fully front, back nor sideways. Two things may have contributed to it - me holding onto the treadmill while waking on an incline or laying on the bed on the right shoulder too long. I can lift inwards like I would do a bicep curl and that does not hurt. I can type fine with both hands. But when it comes to lifting the elbow to shoulder area it is completely shot.

I read online a few articles that suggest one to two weeks before I see a doctor. That was the only reason I was going to wait out that time frame.

I was hoping to do legs and the elliptical rider, but you are right, I need to balance while gripping. This is terrible because I just got back to normal from a cuboid injury on my left leg. Thank you for your input. I will take it easy and see how I go.

I keep reading the same thing that this type of injury could take months to heal. I guess I have to lay low for the next few days and see how I go. If I try to lift my arm I can feel a little pop in the shoulder area. Kind of annoying. Thanks so much for the input.
I am having some bad luck this year with injuries, like never before...

Sorry to hear that. Things will get better though, take it one day at a time and let this stuff heal properly. You'll be glad you did when you look back on it and are making gains all over the place.

Thanks thehobbs I took your advice and iced my shoulder up. I've never really iced my injuries before but this time, I could not take it any more. Plus I took Ibuprofen and rested. It really helped.
My range of motion has increased and feeling a lot better. I only posted about the injury because the pain was so great for about 4 days that I thought it was a fracture or tear, so I do not mean to sound like a baby.

    Rest, ice, ibuprofen.... relief.
