Just curious, as I never see threads made about this exercise, are there any fans of this exercise?
After my initial cut my chest was lagging though I was able to bench my own body weight after 9 months, losing 60lbs in the process. I've been doing Chest Dips after experimenting with various forms of bench press (I dislike them, apart from flat bench) and I have to say, I'm a big fan. My chest has really filled out, and my bench press has improved dramatically, currently in the eighth week of this particular bulk, which I put down to supplementing it with Chest dips.
Just a curiosity post really. Any fans?

I think the trick is to start very slowly, without adding weight. I am currently adding 20kg using a dipping belt. There's not too many videos that I like personally, explaining the exercise though.
This is my only concern with them. I have had a shoulder injury in the past though I certainly don't skip out on shoulder exercises but I do feel that if I were to cause an injury, then it would be with them. At the bottom of the lift it is a lot of pressure, on a weird angle, on the shoulder joint.
Um, what? I didn't search. But I thought it would be a change to talk about something else, and maybe bring up an exercise that's not all that common. At least it's not another 'can't grow my biceps' or 'can't squat wat do' thread.Currently cutting.

Leaning forward on dips to hit my lower chest works great (like Tomsfish said). Decline bench has always felt a little funny to me regardless of how much weight I could push. I've always seen better results from dips with getting your chest over your hands! If you're not on a hammer strength machine doing pushdowns then it may take a little muscle control to get your body at the correct angle.

I love them as well..new to my routine as I have gone from assisted..to BW..and moving to weighted. I have felt a huge change in how much you lean your body forward or even how low to travel in the dip. Mind muscle connection also allows for a great shoulder work out when focusing on smaller movement with the lift focused on shoulder/trap.
