There's just something flawed about the concept of Superman in a 2 hr movie - completely indestructible superheroes don't have that sense of vulnerability to make a movie as interesting as a hero like Batman. (Dark Knight Returns animated movie is excellent).

Its being Produced by Christopher Nolan, I think that is where most of the excitement for this movie is coming from.

and WTF? isn't that some major spoilers? Why is adult superman talking to his father? That better be a hollow projection or some pre-recorded message.

In the 3rd trailer it does appear that he's there (in his armoured suit), at about 2:18. My guess is, if that is him, he doesn't appear as a villian so much, but kind of helping to fight off Zod.

Initially, I wasn't very hyped for this movie, but the latest trailer ("You are not alone."), and TV Spots have sparked my interest. I look forward to seeing this. As for Lex Luthor being played out, I sort of agree; room needs to be made for Darkseid, Doomsday, and Braniac!

What makes you say that Zod and his cronies can't fly? Why wouldn't they be able to? They're Cryptonians exposed to the energy of a yellow sun; they should have the same abilities as Supes. Also, I recall a snippet of Zod tearing a fighter jet apart in midair.
