    BCAA's

I keep hearing different things from different people regarding when to take BCAA's. Some people say with each meal plus before and after training, others say only take them during a workout.... What's the general opinion on here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Supplement reps will tell you lots of things.. don't believe everything you hear.

ProTip: You most likely do not NEED to invest in a BCAA supplement.

Here are the facts. If you are getting adequate amounts of protein, you won't really benefit from BCAA supplementation. BCAAs can be helpful when in a reduced calorie state and training fasted or doing fasted cardio. BCAAs are basically pure energy in a fasted state, and can help the body replenish the BCAA pool. Now, when in a fed state, your body is breaking down proteins and keeping the BCAA pool supplied. Even when in a calorie deficit, BCAAs still aren't likely helpful as you still should be getting in plenty of protein. So to wrap it up there's basically only 2 scenarios your average gym-go'er would need supplemental BCAAs: fasted training and multiple training sessions per day.
