An idea I've been toying around with for quite some time now.
As we all know, Company Representatives increase literally by the day it has gotten to the point where it maybe difficult for the non-affiliated member to distinguish who is helpful, honest, and displays ethics from the deceitful, manipulative, and dishonest ones. What do you guys/gals think about a separate reputation system reserved for only Company Reps? Could a system like this work? Would it be beneficial or just a useless tool? Who would/should have the ability to rep/neg the Company Reps?
This systems intent would be to show a Company Reps value. There is a forum reputation system, but this would start things at zero and be another tool to judge representatives.
Thoughts?

Unfortunately, the rep system is highly flawed, hence people in the misc section have 40,000 rep points and haven't helped anyone on here at all in any way/shape/form. Also, people neg or rep for many things...it's not just based on how you act/how helpful you are, so I can see that happening again with this system and we would be back to square one.
I think the good reps speak for themselves...if Des had a rep power of 5, I would still highly respect him...same goes for Boyscout/Ness/Mr. Aries (Not reps, but I'm just talking about the rep system as a whole)
Whatever you decide, I will of course support, but I don't see much benefit to implementing a new system.

To be honest, I think it just sounds unnecessarily complicated. I like the simple rep system thats in place right now.
Example- What would happen if you are a company rep, but later you are not? Would you just start back at 0?Palo Alto Labs

The problem with that is that it could lead to this vvvvvvv
^^^^
The problem with that is, some companies might have excellent representitives along with a few bad ones. If you rep them all, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
It does seem complicated and unnecessary. Plus, there are a lot of company reps on this board that are not in the company directory.

I don't even really look at the rep system cause I've seen people postin the misc section ,"Reps for Reps back"...
I've been on the boards since Feb or march this year and I think you kind of know who you can trust and who you can't... People on these boards only represent their opinion personally and doesn't really reflect their "company"...
No matter what you kind of have to go with your gut and your on research at the end of the day....
But I think that the company reps should have a different rep system for sure... But I don't really know what it would be based on or how you would do it.

I do like the ebay type system someone suggested.
Maybe Company reps shouldn't be allowed to rep. This would only be a system for non-affiliated members to use. When someone steps down as rep, then the system would be turned off for them, simple as that.
Keep the opinions coming. The current rep system isn't going anywhere, so you guys can stop screaming for that.Sinners in the hands of an angry Mod.

You could just change it so no one can neg anyone, only rep them. Like how AM is. Then people could stop crying about getting negged.

I think that even though people might be reps, they should still be allowed to give out positive/negative reputation points. I give reps to members who provide helpful advice all the time, regardless of what section (Supplements, Nutrition, Keto, etc). Obviously company representitives have to follow certain rules, but I don't think that distributing of reps/negs should be solely for nonaffiliated members. Just my $.02.
That is an excellent idea.

As much as I appreciate the the OP trying to come up with a way to stop some drama I believe the proposed solution may cause more drama. That said if a system does come in to place I think a level of anonymity would be beneficial. I believe mods can see the rep/neg and reason like the current system but the reciever recieves no username but maybe an optional explanation. The reason being I think someone whom has low reps may be intimidated by those whom have many. Eliminating this potential fear I would think more honest reps/negs may happen. Lastly only non-rep users can +/- rep. Reps can not. Keep in mind this is for an additional rep-like system.
