Can they legally do this? I've been paying "rent" for the past 5 years, surely this entitles me to the same rights a renter would have?

If you have been paying rent, then you are a tenant and have some rights. If you haven't, then you can be kicked out for trespassing. They have to give you some notice and evict you if you are renting. My advice is go cry to your parents and grovel like a bitch. Better to rent from your parents than some shtbag. And why do you have a court case anyway? Time to fix your behavior.
