    Left Shoulder Pain

Christ !!! I just want to Flat Bench again, and this shoulder pain will not subside, painful lump where bone meets bone. Stopped doing flat bench for a month, 1st day back, pain back. 53 year old male, with MS for 25 years, but I can still lift weights (225 flat bench for 7-8 reps, when shoulder did not bother me). A course of steroids for the MS took it away, only for it to return. Oddly enough, military presses do not bother it, nor do side raises or normal shoulder workout. Flat bench the worst, incline I can do with some pain, reverse flys hurt a bit, as do regular flys. A friend of mine said stick to HammerStrength for 2-3 months, but even that flat bench hurts. I do not want to stop doing chest.

I notice sleeping on my left side makes it worse, anyone out there with same issue, please advise how you treat it.

Honestly if chest has always been the focus you will prob be best off just taking time off from it. Also see a doc if you haven't.

I have RC issues as well and am stubborn, I have switched to a close grip and board presses to work around my pain. So I don;t follow my own advice
My journal, not detailed, but heck I never keep track of much anyhow. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=121196291&p=863931421#post863931421

You may simply need to improve your form. Much can go wrong if the shoulder blades aren't properly pinned down and back. I speak from the experience of a labrum tear. If you can't keep good form in one exercise, you can either skip it altogether or take the weight way down so you can concentrate on form. Once you get the form down you can start adding weight back up. You can also change the range of motion. I had to shorten mine because taking the bar all the way down to the chest kills me. Not ideal but better than nothing?

Did you get it checked or imaged?

My orthopedic doc told me cortisone injections for shoulders are falling out of favor due to the fact cortisone thins the tissues it's injected into, making them even more prone to tear and breaks.
