Im going to buy everything used except the bar and weights. Looking at getting Ivanko olympic practice bar and bumper plates. Can I get some feed back on this brand?

Good for you for following rule number 1.
Get quality bar. Then get quality plates. In that order.
Ivanko is top notch. My training bar is Ivanko. But my plates are Pendlay.
Good man.
Any reason for bumpers? You taking up Olympic lifting?
But since you are in Deutschland look into Eleiko (Sweden) as well or even Werksan (Turkey). This above all..

Im getting bumpers, because the end of the summer Ive hired a Olympic weight lifting coach. I want to start doing some olympic lifts. Im not into Bodybuilding, Im just into strength and general health, Power lifting and Olympic lifting are the roads I enjoy. Don't think Ive done a set of curls in about 4 months.
Eleiko is just a little beyond my range and budget, and Werksan is a bitch to get. That narrowed it to Ivanko.
You ever heard of a company called schnell, supposed to be the German version of Ivanko? About 500 euro cheaper for a complete set.Last edited by 21infantry; 03-27-2015 at 07:45 AM.

Awesome!!
WL is a great sport. Just be patient. It has a much steeper learning curve. And don't worry about not having curled in months. I have not benched in years since taking up WL.
Have fun with it and enjoy Ivanko. Just make sure the bar you get is for WL and not PL. You want a bar that spins well. This above all..

Sorry, man.. Never heard of Shcnell.
Also look into the Klokov bar.. Here in the States, it has a lot of great reviews.. And the price is unbeatable!! I am actually getting one soon, as my WL team is expanding so we will need more equipment.
You can get it through againfaster.com.. Luckily, there is a branch there in Europe.
What about lifting platform. U building one? U wanna protect your equipment.

One more thing, man..
Since you are training to be a WLer, and since you are in Deutschland, I wanna share this with you.. This is Matthias Steiner.. 2008 Beijing Olympics Gold Medalist..
Very moving story.. Hit ‘CC’ to get the English subtitle.. But you probably understand what he is saying.
The other thing about this magnificent fellow is that that he is Type I diabetic..
Talk about ‘NO EXCUSES.’
Look him up over there.. Then tell him I said, “Ich Liebe Dich, man. No homo.”This above all..

Great!
Here you go.. Don’t reinvent the wheel. One thing to consider is the size of the platform.. Don’t make the mistake of building one that is undersize, only to realize later on that you need a bigger one so that you can have more dumping zone..

10 x 10 is plenty! Attaboy!
And oh, btw, hats off for asking permission. That's what marriage is about. I ask permission as well because that is how I show respect to my wife regarding our finances, even if I am the sole bread winner.
Your wife appreciated that you asked her.
Btw with a budget of 7k you have a lot of options. I don't wanna influence in any way, but what about jerk boxes?
You don't have to buy aftermarket. Your FIL can make you one as well down the road.
Tom- lol. It was mezzie, primo. He basically put plywood and went to town. Haha. But I would never do that to Ivanko. This above all..

So much this. When I got my barbell and weight for XMAS, that she bought for me, #winning!...
At first she did not. Till I explained that I would no longer need the YMCA membership that was costing us 70.00 a month, which is $840.00 a year, versus the payment of $400.00 bucks for a barbell and plates.
It was like mind=blown for her.OG

Haha, GTFO here man, your embarrassing yourself. There is a difference between respecting your partner in life and bowing down to Feminism. Last time I checked half the money was my wifes and we share a home together. So since we share things together its probably a great policy to consult her on major changes and purchases.
And NorwichGrad is correct, I would rip you apart, your girlfriend can go Cukold when Im mopping the floor with ya, but I regress since you live in the states and I live in Germany.Current Maxes 6/10/2015 and End of year Goals

Another option if you're looking for minimalization is to start a home workout program or say xbox one fitness which has countless programs online. I utilize Focus T25 but there's also P90X3. Both focus on free weights usage and exercises for starters. You can also purchase the TRX program and door mount system.

Two more things to add, man.
WL shoes.
Change plates. Get quality stuff and not the cheap 2.5 lbs Walmart junk. You want to protect your bar. Cheap change plates will dent the surface of the bar sleeve upon dropping.
While you're at it might as well get quality collars so the mama plates and baby change plates don't rattle.
So we got what? 4k left to spend?
Let see.
Some liquid chalk instead of traditional chalk. Less mess and works great.
Some athletic tape to help with hook grip. Rock Tape by Rogue is best.
Some WD40 to lube your Ivanko bar once a month. Unless you get the Klokov bar.
WL belt. Low profile. PL belts are too thick and wide and they are not legal in meets.
Wrist wraps if you have wrist issues. Get the leather Chinese style.
Still got some $$ left. This above all..

Congrats on the permission achieved!! I've been a home gym member for gong on 6 years now with 4 men's physique competitions under my belt all from training with a home gym. Ivanco is great if you can afford it. Most all of my equipment was used and just items I've pieced together over the years from a local sporting goods store & they've worked perfectly fine for my situation. good luck man!!

I need everything basically, 7k includes a mirror new flooring, New Bar, Bumpers, PowerRack, some type of pulley pull down, Bench, Deadlift station, Dumbbells also plan on putting in a Big Flat Screen connected to a Mini mac so I can run my program on the screen and install some cameras that feed into it, so I can record my workouts in real time. Miscellaneous crap adds up over time.
Already have the Nike Romero, PL belt, straps and all the crap.
Well 7k is the low end, I can spend up to 12k. To make a long story short I sold almost everything I had to move to Germany. I sold two Rolex a Omega, sold a paid off 2012 BMW replaced it with 2008 Renault piece of crap, left most of my possessions back in the states. Sold all my stocks and came to Germany with two suitcases full of clothes and a dog. So the wife, is cool with me doing something for myself. Its the cash left over from furnishing the new pad.Current Maxes 6/10/2015 and End of year Goals
