What the 'right to bear arms' really means
by Saul Cornell
"The notion that regulation is antithetical to the Second Amendment has no basis in history or law. As long as there have been guns in America, guns have been regulated. Even at the height of the Wild West in Dodge City, gun regulation was a fact of life."

yes, it makes perfect sense that the authors of the constitution who had just finished fighting a war against a tyrannical government, intended the second amendment to be regulated by the same tyrannical government that the second amendment exists to protect us from.
perfect sense.

O lawd OP
"The First amendment guarantees freedom of belief and political affiliation but McCarthy ruined a bunch of people's lives by putting them on trial as communists, proving that the First Amendment can be infringed upon and it's more of a guideline than an actual rule. Plus the Sedition Act which proves it even earlier."

"Do you think SHE actually felt like that was a sexual thing he was doing? She's like 6. Only an actual p3do would think that she thought he was groping her, too."
"Not that it's impossible to touch a minor inappropriately, but it is true that a 6 year old girl will not recognize someone putting a hand on their chest as groping, whether it is inappropriate or not."

OP,
The use of "warrior" in your username suggests violence and is extremely intimidating to liberal betas everywhere. You should have included a trigger-waring with your post; since you didn't, I am reporting you to the Ministry of Love for aggressive behavior and thoughtcrimes.

We have gun control.
what are you whining about?
It's not like a 10 year old can go buy a gun legally.
I can't carry my gun into my son's school to pick him up from sports.
I can't carry my gun into a post office.
It's nothing but controlled.
Now if your asking for a ban on guns. See Prohibition.**MFC**

When people keep bringing up the whole 'militia' thing I wonder... Just who do you think makes up this militia?... Oh that's right, We The People do. That is why the RIGHT of the people to keep and bear arms, shall NOT be infringed.... So that in the time of need We The People could form up militias, with our own personal weapons, in proper working order (well regulated) in order to protect and preserve this Republic from an over reaching tyrannical centralized govt.
The 2nd Amendment was not about duck hunting... The primary reason for the 2nd Amendment was in order to protect and defend the Republic against tyranny. After all they just got done fighting a revolution for crying out loud and that revolution was not fought against ducks, it was fought against tyranny.
Oh and... The whole "well regulated" thingy... Let's take a look...
The following are taken from the Oxford English Dictionary, and bracket in time the writing of the 2nd Amendment:
1709: "If a liberal Education has formed in us well-regulated Appetites and worthy Inclinations."
1714: "The practice of all well-regulated courts of justice in the world."
1812: "The equation of time ... is the adjustment of the difference of time as shown by a well-regulated clock and a true sun dial."
1848: "A remissness for which I am sure every well-regulated person will blame the Mayor."
1862: "It appeared to her well-regulated mind, like a clandestine proceeding."
1894: "The newspaper, a never wanting adjunct to every well-regulated American embryo city."
The phrase "well-regulated" was in common use long before 1789, and remained so for a century thereafter. It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected. Establishing government oversight of the people's arms was not only not the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd Amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it.

Correction, the only debate brought up about the meaning has been by those on the left trying to make it fit their ideology...
The founders wanted an armed populace...
You may argue that they had no clue how totally psychotic that some idiots out there would be or how morally deprived many in society would become... But the 2nd Amendment is as it is stated and it was meant to have an armed populace able to defend themselves and their republic.
