Building a new gym - a flagship money pretty much no object

    Guys,

As part of my work I have been asked to build a gym, I am working out three times a week but my gym is ****e and it would be good to get some ideas of what is out there.

This is going to be a flagship "wellness" push for a health company and pretty much no expense spared. I mean serious money available.

There will be 950 square meters available (10500 square feet) to pack out the gym. What percentage of space do you think should be allocated to what.

If you had to go to a commercial gym, what would you like to see in it

What machines would you put in there? How many of each?

Would you have a pool? A boxing ring?

This will cater to a community although there will need to be some serious lifting space.

    Any ideas?

Pools are excellent. When considering a gym for a community you need to be able to provide viable exercise options for ALL individuals. I think a pool would be excellent for elderly populations, those with arthritis and joint problems, and kids love pools too (so you can get families in there!)

And this will be for a community, no school project here. And like I said, this place will be more about brand than needing to make money

If you read enough here you will see that most people lean towards Bowflex products. There products are tried and true, end of conversation. Also, most people here use lifting straps and fat gripz. Your not training without them, you might think you are...but you're not. Also, squat racks are stupid. Period.

I would also include valet parking. No one in their right mind would want to have to walk such a long distance from the gym parking lot to get on a cardio machine.

Nice idea, as long as the valet parking drops you off at people movers, or escalators. This way you can preserve your energy for the ACTUAL workout,

What about an area where folks can do some penis excercises? This would be something a flagship gym would have. You know, attach some weights to it and do some stretch and flex. PM Northern Morris I think he bought some such equipment on craigslist recently and may be looking to flop it.

Its legit for a MWB, Ive seen those pics too...and he probably uses it. But in all my years here Ive never read anyone asking about installing a boxing ring LOL. Or a pool. A lap pool would be a pretty specific thing to install.

You've got me thinking, OP... I've always imagined a "lap pool" like an oval running track. With your unlimited money, can you make this happen? You'll need bridges to get to the weight/cardio equipment, but as long as there's a few 'no diving from the bridge signs' and unlimited money I really don't see a drawback. Motivational piranhas might be something to consider too. Just sayin'.
