After doing much research, I found out that the Mangold's and the Deselles actually came from Alsace Lorraine. I am not full blooded, because some of my forefathers came from different parts of the south.

Oh yeah, she's a sweetheart. I remember holding my younger boy fifteen minutes after he was born and noting the fine blue lines of capillaries on his scalp and temples. Thin skin, very, very thin. Wrinkled and blotchy skin all over, he turned more human as opposed to primate after about a week. Your granddaughter's already moved into the cute realm. She'll be a blond, probably. Lucky you and congrats to your daughter for producing such a winner.

Jess, she is the 1st family on our side that was born with any hair. As we grew hair we all turned out blonde. I was totally shocked when my mother said "finally a baby born with hair. I hope she doesn't turn out to be a blonde." I laughed so hard when I heard that because my mother is in the early stages of alzheimer's I was glad to know she still had some spunk in her..

Funny, girls always seem to be born with hair. Both my boys came out looking like Charlie Brown the first six months of their lives and then their hair started to grow. My older son has dark hair like me, my younger boy has reddish-brown hair like my father. It's good that your mom is still there (upstairs, I mean) to remember things. My mother also had Alzheimer's as well as a number of strokes which destroyed her memory. Still, she remembered birthdays, relatives' names (and my wife has a lot of relatives) and important stuff to the very end. Enjoy your granddaughter now...at sixteen your daughter and son will go insane...

Well you do realize that it went back and forth between being French and German don't you? My Great-Grandfather on my Father's Mother's side came from there.
Many folks after WWI didn't want to be considered German and so they told folks they were French. Grandma always said she was French. Was friends with Methuselah

Oh yeah, in fact my family looks down on the French, even though we have the blood in us. All that was passed down to us were beer steins from the 'old country' lol. When I look back at the family tree, and see names like Mangold, Deselles, Borjan, Halfmann, Voorhees, Behrands, ect those names can work both ways,

What a QT!
When my mom was pregnant with me she had a dream that I would be born with a head full of blond hair. Which she did not expect since working as a labor and delivery nurse, she knew that most babies, especially blonds, don't come out with hair. When they finally dragged me out kicking and screaming after more than 24 hours labor, there I was with a head full of blond hair. A mis-shapen banana-like head from the forceps the doc used on me, but blond non the less.
Alsatian is very similar to the German dialect spoken by my in-laws in south Hessen. There still many that say they are neither German nor French, but Alsatian. "Alsace for the Alsatians!"Peace: Lift Long and Prosper!

You're kind of right and kind of wrong.
. There is a strong German influence in Mexico.(lots of Germans immigrated there) That is where the polka came in. My grandfather's Brother moved there to Ciudad Monte. His sons have carried on a thriving cotton and ranching operation.
