Smile Painful Elbow clicking during Hammer Curls

So I have an issue with my elbows. Mainly my left elbow. Its usually a problem on the negative of an exercise, pulling exercises (single arm row, lat pulldowns, hammer curls).

    For instance, hammer curls.

I'll bring the weight up with no issue, no pain. But as i slowly lower the weight, there's a painful click when i get past halfway. its almost as if my elbow clicks back into place.

I havent done these exercises in a while. I thought it was an inflammation in the joint, so i thought id steer clear. I tried it yesterday to see if it was still an issue and unfortunately it is.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
