Howdy my fellow 'oldies' ;-).
So me and the wifey have been talking about this since the year started. She's on birth control but having lots of issues as of recently (getting worse over years).
I started looking at vasectomy as well and really considering it this fall. She's more concerned that something might go wrong and I'll be stuck (and her..lol) with a limp d#$%. Or some side effects with sex life, etc.
From what I've read about online, it seems to be a common procedure for men nowadays with virtually high chance of success with zero post issues. I'll be hitting 43 years "young" this year and already got 2 kids (one in high school...son in elementary). Have no plans for 3rd kid.
I like the fact that's it's a outpatient surgery and u are in/out in 30 mins and only need couple of days off. Probably squats/leg work might be thrown out the window post recovery for a while..LOL.
Just wondering if any yall here went thru this ? Easy peezy? Walk in the park?
Thanks!!

Getting one in July, I don’t want to be knocked out, for some reason that has me more nervous than the actual procedure. Haven’t went to the hospital for myself in many, many years.

I'm with you guys, fear of going under.
Had to get a lypoma carved out of my back, on initial diagnosis I told them just freeze it up cut it out, surgeon smiled and said sure. Months later I get on the operating table and the anesthesiologist started hooking me up.
I'm like no fuk'n way, I started unhooking stuff and was getting up he said I'll check but the surgeon said he wants you out. He and the surgeon returned and after me threatening to leave he said ok we will do it with the anesthesiologist at hand if it gets to be to much he's ready.
So they freeze me up then come back and start, I didn't feel the cutting but when that sob started rooting around in there, holy fuk, I look at the anesthesiologist and he's grinning so I smile at him. From the outside I probably looked calm cool and collected but on the inside I'm like this is fuk'n brutal and wished I had gone under but no damn way was I giving in.𝓐𝓲𝓻 𝓕𝓸𝓻𝓬𝓮 𝓥𝓮𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓪𝓷 1976 - 1999 - 𝓒𝓪𝓷𝓷𝓪𝓫𝓲𝓼 𝓔𝓷𝓽𝓱𝓾𝓼𝓲𝓪𝓼𝓽 𝓼𝓲𝓷𝓬𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓮 1960'𝓼

Thanks a bunch fellas! I actually found a video on the process on uTube (don't wanna post link as it's quite graphic) and that bit on the nerve cutting/knotting looks painful as f#$%!
But I just got bit by a stingray in the islands during our x-mas vacation last Dec so I doubt any pain comes to that (the barb went 3 inches deep in my heel with a precision cut!).
Will update thread when I get myself 'fixed' later this year. Prob is I work in the hospital and will get operated on by people that know me so I'm really not looking forward to nurses seeing my privates with a smile on their faces. Unless I walk in my procedure disguised as somebody else (??).________________________________________________________

I really think having a vasectomy precipitated my loss of faith and ultimate acceptance of atheism.
There was no reason for that post-coitus prayer.
Srs, I remember the first time after I was cleared and just noticing the lack of stress afterwards. It was a feeling of pure clouds and pillows.A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.

lmfao!! On spread bruther
knocked out? You either got the wrong Dr or your Dr is thinking of another procedure. No one I know has been knocked out and me and all my buds have had it done. If you insist on this Dr, you gotta be up front and ask why he wants you out when all the info you have read shows different.
I hope you're joking
Me as well; could smell some burning, see the smoke, and this is no sh!t but they had a radio playing in the room (this was the most layed back procedure I've ever had done and my Dr was the best around, over 300 per year) and when the electrical device to cauterize made contact, the radio staion fuzzed; swear to God! Funny as sh!t
OP, it's very easy; one of the most common procedures done to man; slight pain for a couple days; nothing at all changes. It's one of those things where if I didn't know I had it done, I'd never know the difference.

Its no big deal, I missed one day of work.
The craziest part about it was the 80 year old semi retired Urologist that performed the procedure. I was a little concerned about his hand-eye coordination. Two weeks later I had to take my sample back to him, I had my baby twins in the back seat and I was by myself so he met me at the front door of his office, he took the sample and told me to keep an eye on one of the third story windows. About 15 minutes later he open the window and leaned out and with a big sh*t eating grin gave me a two thumbs up...all clear!...funniest thing, never will forget that. Please record my time/reps if I pass out

I was awake, doped up but awake. He'd tug slightly on (something) while cutting mine and it was one of those really terrible pains that instantly makes you queasy rather than hurt. That suuuuuucked but everything after that was easy peasy. If you want it, get it.
You'll have a bit of a gut check as they'll ask you to state that you understand what you're doing and you don't want kids and all that. I thought it would be an easy answer but it slowed me down in the moment.330->210. Drop me a PM if you're just getting started and want some advice.
Do what you love and you'll never workout a day in your life.

Yep pretty simple procedure, going under full anesthesia is way more dangerous than a V.
My Uri is an old Iranian guy, very smart and skilled. He was describing the steps as he was doing them in his thick accent and I just said "can you just talk about something else??" So he talked about epic Naval captains and their actions during battles. That's actually a pretty cool subject and he had lots of good stories. Was out in 30 minutes and my staff was at full mast for duty a few days later.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
