Hey guys recently my brother bought some Ben and Jerry's pint sized ice cream. I did not eat any, but looked at the nutrition label expecting it to add up to over 1500 calories for the whole thing.
So a normal B&J ice cream is like 800-1000 calories. I figured I could easily fit this into my macros.
If I plan on eating one of these a day/every other day, do you think it will really effect my performance in the gym? I know it may be vitamin/mineral deficient and packed with sugar, but I take a multi everyday. The rest of my food is fairly clean, and I drink at least 1 gallon of water a day.
I eat based on IIFYM, but I have never eaten this volume of ice cream.
Thoughts?

I would eat the pint towards the end of the day. A pre-workout pint contains a good amount of lactose which is not the greatest preworkout sugar. Another thing to keep in mind with the pint is that it contains a ton of sucrose. Even though it fits into your Macros, keep in mind that sugar is 50% fructose, which is unregulated in your metabolism, and all the associated physiological responses will occur-for better or worse depending upon what you're doing when you eat the pint.

If B&J was 12 a pint here I'd make it last all week Some flavors can come close to 1500 cals while others can be 800. While bulking I would eat a pint a day however that was mostly the Greek yougurts which are 800 cals. Now dieting I just eat one serving.
If you want to eat a pint a day knock yourself out.
PS I usually can get my pints BOGO at 3.69. u mad?

Not to ride your **** Always, but I'm thankful you constantly make this point.
The central tenant of IIFYM is moderation. The reason you see people push ice cream, cookies, etc., down people's throats in threads is because the OP is usually following a bro-diet devoid of the foods he/she loves. Completely eliminating the food items you enjoy is not practicing moderation. It is an extremist position.
The result of the preaching of IIFYM you see is that some fools try to fill the majority of the calorie allotment with cake, cookies, and other food items lacking in micronutrients. Making an effort to subsidize so much of your intake with sweets that you neglect essential vitamins and minerals is not practicing moderation. It is an extremist position.
IIFYM is a foolish term and it gets misinterpreted by many detractors and adopters. All it means is that there is no such thing as an unhealthy food when viewed in isolation. Anything can be fit into a diet within reason. Fools on both sides can't seem to grasp that.

IMO IIFYM is one of the worst things to happen to the nutrition section
Not because it doesnt work in actuality but because 90% of people distort the message and dont practice what the originators intended.
They take it too literally or tell new dieters to eat whatever they feel like but just get in enough protein blah blah blah, setting these individuals up for failure
ALso, some think they are doing 80-20 but they count things like cinnamon toast crunch as the 80 (cuz the boz says whole grain), fast food burgers as part of the 80 (it is just meat and bread), or eat very little highly nutritious foods (veggies, fruits, etc) because none of their food choices are "that bad"Founder of MMDELAD
