    Question Motivation To Aim Higher

    Hi,

I started working out regularly in 2022 and kept going for over a year. I felt such an improvement in my general health and fitness, I manage a mental health condition so it meant a lot to me that things seemed to start getting better. After a year, I started to notice that my motivation was waning, and I was getting bored of the routine, so I hired a personal trainer. He's been great, showed me that I was stronger than I realised, and provided a new workout routine. However, I've had a break the last few weeks and now I'm struggling to get back into it. I think that I need to push even more than I was doing, I have this thought that I need to aim higher and become a body builder, and that will provide motivation. It's not enough to do exercise anymore, I want to get seriously strong.

Would like to hear your stories, and will explore the forum. Feel free to comment if you like

It's quite common to experience a dip in motivation, especially when a routine becomes too familiar. Bringing in a personal trainer was a smart move to mix things up and challenge your perceived limits.

Taking a break isn't necessarily a setback; sometimes, it's just what the body and mind need to recharge. It’s perfectly normal to struggle a bit when returning to your routine after a hiatus.

It's awesome to hear about your journey and how working out has positively impacted your health and fitness, especially with managing your mental health condition. It's completely normal to experience fluctuations in motivation, and it sounds like you've been proactive by hiring a personal trainer and trying new routines.

Taking a break and then struggling to get back into the swing of things is something many of us go through. It's great that you're thinking of setting new goals to reignite your motivation. Aiming to become a bodybuilder is a significant and admirable goal, but remember to approach it with a sustainable mindset. Here are a few tips that might help:

Set Realistic Goals: Break down your ultimate goal of bodybuilding into smaller, achievable milestones. This way, you can celebrate small victories along the way, which will keep you motivated.

Create a New Routine: Since boredom was an issue before, ensure your new routine has variety. Mix up your workouts to keep them interesting.

Track Your Progress: Keep a journal or use an app to track your progress. Seeing your improvements, no matter how small, can be incredibly motivating.

Stay Connected: Engaging with a community, whether online or in-person, can provide support and encouragement. Share your struggles and successes, and learn from others.

Listen to Your Body: As you aim higher, it's crucial to listen to your body and avoid overtraining. Balance your workouts with adequate rest and nutrition.

Mindset Matters: Keep reminding yourself of why you started and the benefits you've experienced so far. Sometimes revisiting your initial motivations can help rekindle your passion.

Remember, everyone's fitness journey is unique, and it's okay to adjust your goals as you progress. Your health and well-being are the most important aspects. Best of luck on your journey to becoming stronger!
