Getting started (did some research)

so I've been a track athlete, rugby player and a powerlifter. My pr's in powerlifting are Squat 530 Bench 340 Deadlift 560 At a bodyweit of around 280 I've spent the past months working on deep squats and just hit an easy 365 where I sat on my calves(atg) belt less. My interests have...

Xiaojun Front Squats 230x2 @ 77 kgs.

I used the search function and couldn't find where this had been posted before. Front squatting 3xBW for a double is crazy--especially when it looks like a 70% lift. RMBCLsrktwI

complexes

What is the point of doing these in weightlifting. I saw klokov doing one and it didn't seem like it was for conditioning.

Posterior chain flexibility

Hi there! I'm not new to lifting but I have some problems about posterior chain flexibility. I wrote in this section of the forum because I've been fascinated by olympic lifting, especially for the deepness of athlete's squats in the clean and jerk, so I decided to post in this section because...

Only a 22.5kg difference between best back and front squat?

My best beltless back squat is 183kg and my best front squat is 160.5kg, isn't that kind of weird? I have squatted 190kg for a very easy double before, but that was wearing a thick powerlifting belt. Do numbers like this mean anything, or is I am just a better front squatter than back...

Why won't my squat go up?

Hi, thread title says it all. Right now, I'm 5'10 and weigh roughly 190-200lbs and have been doing rippetoes for my squat since I still can't lift 315 for a single I figured I'd do a basic routine, I started at 185lbs and have been adding only 5lbs a session for a while but recently I've been...

Left wrist pops out of the catch in the clean

Here's a video: 8wR-NxKtACw I had a wrist injury back in December, but I feel all better now. However, I'm guessing I lost some ROM which is why my wrist is coming out when I catch a clean. I don't really know any more than that. Any suggestions for a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Small feet. Order women's shoe?

I wear size 7 for my Inov8 F-lite 195's, and my regular day-to-day New Balance walking/running shoes. I have a pair of Wei-Rui Challenger weightlifting shoes in size 6.5 since on their site they suggested ordering half a size smaller than normal shoes, for the fit to be snug. Now, my $50...

Running program and snatch progression?

Hi all... this is my first post :) I started getting into competitive oly lifting recently and just started looking for coaches. My question is regarding building up my snatch (current only a measly 135 lbs) My bw is 130lbs, however i'll most likely cut down to 56kg (123lbs) for competition and...

From PL to Oly Squats, any tips/advice

I've recently decided to start training oly style squats instead of pl squats. I've stripped 100lbs from the bar and going to add weight in a SS approach. Any advice on this style? Do PL routines like Sheiko work for the oly lifts?

Light weeks and Heavy weeks

Hey guys I have another question for you "more experienced" lifters. I haven't started any light weeks until now. I was lifting the other day and failed on 3 of my sets (the last set). I was wondering if this means that I need to give my body sometime to rest and and do a light week. I usually give...

Wink Tips on jerking

After admiring the awesomeness of the olympic lifts for some time i've slowly started incorporating them into my training. I've done powercleans for years and I found it fairly easy to transition into full cleans but i'm having a real ****ty time with the jerk. I just can't get a feel for the bar...

Behind The Neck Jerk?

I'm wondering if there's really any merit to them, or if anyone on here does it? Convinced by a Jamie Lewis article I tried it today, and while I had no shoulder pain lifting, I had trouble getting the bar down from the lockout. I also read a post by Christian Thibadeau that said that even pro...

Power Snatch Versus Power Clean & Push Press

Hi everyone, I'm changing up my routine from a Bill Starr type of setup (which I've followed for years with good results) to a one lift a day type setup where I just hammer the crap out of a key lift each workout. One day is for each power lift, one day for overhead pressing, and I wanted to...

Critique my clients

Hey guys, I've dabbled on and off in "the lifts" for a few years now, and just recently got serious about coaching others (been a general strength and fitness coach since 2005). Figured it's always good to have extra sets of eyes and varying input, so I thought I'd post vidz of the people I train. ...

Problem

Whenever I snatch or clean, they come out as power snatches and cleans, never do I go lower. If I attempt a 60kg snatch, I fail because I try to power snatch it, something is stopping me from going lower so I can catch the bar. It's not an issue of flexibility. Are there any specific exercises...

Starting oly at the beginning of March

I've got a powerlifting comp on Feb 26th, and then I make the switch over to weightlifting. I have a few problems - I'm horribly immobile and can't even begin to do an overhead squat or full snatch. I do mobility work daily to address this. I'm also not feasibly able to get coaching, as the nearest...
