I always hear people posting about genetics being such a crucial factor in bodybuilding, but i disagree with how much they play a part...
unless your this guy:
Seriously tho, most people have got the potential to get great physiques with solid and disciplined training, especially if they get on dat der celltech.
I think "genetics" gets thrown around as an excuse too often by the haters, i know some people are more inclined to making good gains, but no-one has a great physique without busting there ass and being disciplined..

Well to an extent. If you just want to work out and get bigger, then yeah everyone can do that. Just a matter of serious training and diet. However, for the guys that want to compete seriously, everyone is that dedicated to the sport. Someone who is just naturally proportioned aesthetically just gives them an advantage that others don't have. Does it help? Yes, but it won't do you any good without the work behind it.

You're 25 and don't know the difference between your/you're. But on a serious note, genetics are NOT overrated. I gain muscle very slowly, and I'm lucky if it's not fat stored in my midsection. I have small wrists, I have started benching 45 lbs; poor genetics, but I don't care because there is cell tech if I ever need it.

Check out my youtube channel! Feel free to ask questions, and I'll make video responses as in depth and to my knowledge as I can. I don't spread bro science, my information will be similiar to Ian Mccarthy/Layne/Ogus/Eric helms in the sense that I will base my accusations of of science/studies. Also some personal experience, but I won't impose that onto you. But if you ask, I'll answer :)

except when i work my ass off and diet and body parts are lagging and other cats just seem to grow without any real work... drives me nuts, my pops is tall and skinny, my uncle (on mom's side) is tall and skinny, do you think geneticly i can keep up with a tall stocky guy? no.... i may be as strong or stronger but i dont look like it, genetics plays a roll, but weather or not you let it hinder you, or use it as a crutch to excuse **** results makes you a better bber, genetics have the ability to seperate a fad lifter from a true gym rat
In My Humble Opinion"... so they don't need to train as hard as I do.
But I have to work fuking hard.

12-28-2010, 08:43 AM #20What is your biggest concern about a dramatic increase in our understanding of genetics?
The greatest danger is a mistaken sense of genetic determinism — that people will think that because genes play a role in something, they determine everything. We see, again and again, people saying, “It’s all genetic. I can’t do anything about it.” That’s nonsense. To say that something has a genetic component does not mean it’s unchangeable. Environmental factors play a huge role. Some people are more susceptible to certain things, and understanding which people are more susceptible will point to the environmental influence.

Every body with proper training and nutrition and diet can put on muscle mass and lose fat.
The amount of muscle you can naturally carry, the rate at which you ultimately put on muscle, and the location/symmetry of your muscle bellies is genetic.
People with bad genetics tend to overemphasize their bad genetics to cover up their lack of consistent effort and dedication. People with good genetics tend to under emphasize the importance of genetics to not overshadow their accomplishments and efforts.
In summary, you want to take responsibility for the successes and defer the failures to things outside of your control.
In any case, everybody should just shut up and lift. You deserve what you settle for.

like i said SOME people are more inclined, but id say 99% of the population has the same basic capacity, may take some longer than others, and some will have stronger points than others.... for example, i never work my traps, there naturally just big, that is genetic, but my calves used to be very skinny, i worked on them over a year prioritizing, and now there the same as anybody else, i dont just say "oh well s**t genetics".

flex wheeler half-assed himself into legendary status
muscle insertions, joint size, bone density, ribcage width. all things you cannot change. you can of course still work hard but lettuce be reality, genetics are huge. even how someone responds to AAS is "genetics"Excuse me, your seatbelt seems to be broken. What do you recommend I do?
