Seriously why would they decide to take a big over someone that would fit the Warriors system perfectly. Dude will be a future star

I've watched some of his games, he actually really isn't that bad, he has some pretty good hands that can bother players and can be really sneaky sometimes. I don't think he's going to be a Lonzo defensively but he's still a kid so he has some potential there.
It's hard to say in hindsight really, both are 19 years old so they have a lot of room to grow. I don't know if scouts really expected Melo to be where he is it at right now.
They've actually been really bad with their traditional starting line-up and you can't call it a small sample size because it is their most often used lineup versus their second most used. Just switching Wiseman with Looney the Warriors go from a -16 net rating to a +25 net rating. could be just Wiseman really trying to learn and develop chemistry with the Warriors team.
You also can't put Wiggins and Wiseman together. Offensively more than anything that has been a huge disaster. They just don't have the chemistry together but Wiseman still has time.Last edited by sooby; 03-01-2021 at 06:36 AM.

Again, it's clear you don't watch the games. You said Wiseman was slow footed. Wiseman isn't horrible on defense. And Looney starts over him because Looney is an experience playoff proven veteran. Going into the draft, the consensus was that there were players who were going to be more NBA ready than Wiseman. Centers take longer than other positions to develop. And that's what we're seeing. The reason the Warriors took him regardless was because they thought he could contribute and also because they coveted his potential. Wiseman's value at this moment is worth more than it was before the start of the season. LaMelo is good, but Wiseman is going to prove to be a better player for the Warriors going forward.

Warriors could get Lavine now if they want with the assets they have. But Lavine does not make them a championship team. A backcourt of Curry and Lavine is hell offensively but will face the same issues a backcourt of Lillard and CJ has for years. Also, where does Lavine fit when Klay gets healthy? Moving Klay to small forward is going to make the Warriors really small. And I don't think ownership is going to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a roster of Steph/Lavine/Klay/Draymond/Looney when Lavine's gets a new contract.
If the Warriors want, they could trade for Beal. But again, same issues with Lavine despite being a better player. Warriors also could have traded for Harden if they wanted. But they didn't. Warriors want to maintain a defense first mentality. But it's just a matter of what moves they make this summer. They have the assets.

Wiggins isn't really a problem. His trajectory is a better Harrison Barnes. That's good enough for a role player on a championship team. The issues are if Klay and Draymond are going to be close to what they were. Steph for most of the season has been playing near MVP levels. If the Warriors think they need more because those two aren't going to cut it, then everybody is on the table except Steph Curry and probably Klay. Right now, they have salaries they can use to make moves like Kelly Oubre's and Kevon Looney's. Those two alone, added with the Wolves 2021 draft pick, which is looking good because the Wolves are horrible, and other incentives could get them Lavine. But like I said, does he make them a championship team? I doubt it.
Warriors have the salaries and assets to make moves this season or this summer.

What I'm saying is that the Warriors have the assets to move some of these contracts into better players. But it depends on what exactly their plan is. Are they planning on developing rookies along with the core, or are they going all in during Steph's prime. Having salaries to move, despite how bad they're considered, are still options as long as they have incentives like draft picks.

"100 times better"? We'll talk at the end of this season or next. Melo is alot better than I thought he was going to be before the beginning of the year, but like I said, centers take longer to develop. So it'll be a little while before we can tell if Wiseman is going to be a significant player or not. Too early.
