Starting about 7 months ago, I started experiencing pain in my left shoulder. The pain is on the outside of my shoulder and a little down my arm.
It started with barbell bench press, hurt in my left shoulder, particularly right after I was done my set. Then it started to hurt doing dumbell presses and now I can't do dips and shoulder presses either. The situation is definitely worsening no matter how much I nurse and avoid certain exercises
I've taken some time off and avoided all of those exercizes, but when I try to revisit any of those lifts, the pain is instantly back. Outside of lifting, the pain is basically non-existant.
Anyone experience the pain I describe, irritated by the exercises listed? I'm sure this will need professional attention, but I figured I'd pop in here and see what people have to say.
Thanks

Shoulder injuries are something that needs to be looked at by a professional, seeing as there are so many things that can go wrong with a shoulder. It could be a nerve, a torn muscle/muscles, tendon problems etc. If it's been as long as you say, it needs to be looked at. If there is weakness, a general dull ache, problems with ROM, that's generally a sign of something more then just general fatigue. I experienced just a little and took two weeks off, iced my shoulder a couple of times a day and took NSAIDS to keep inflammation down.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have a muscular imbalance in your deltoids, specifically, that you're front delts are too big in comparison to your real delts.
This causes an imbalance which creates the funky pinching pressure you're probably feeling.
Does it hurt especially badly when you raise your arm up over your head? And does it hurt even worse when you bring it down?
Those are hall-mark signs of a muscle imbalance, especially if you don't feel much pain during your pulling/back exercises.

I agree to get it looked at by a professional (sports medicine doctor not Gp). In fact, you should be calling one right after you read this. Shoulders arent something to mess with and after 7 months, it wont heal without the right treatment. Good luck.

Deltoid Imbalance?
May have something there. I went through shoulder surgery last Nov. Mine started out as a pain on the outside of the arm, along the bottom of the outer deltoid head. Diagnosis from the MRI showed the the Biceps tendon was inflamed. No visible impingement, but definitely flared up.
As it was explained to me, if the muscles along the Scapula are weak, they allow the shoulder to migrate during a heavy lift, like a bench press. We later found out, during the surgery, that this instability aggrivated a condition I already had. My shoulder was full of bone spurs. It looked like the joint had been packed with black sand.
IMHO, if I had caught this earlier, the surgery may not have been necessary. At least not for a few more years. FRESCH and a few others on here are for more knowledgeable in the actual mechanics of the joints. I will defer to their opinions. But, I would strongly suggest that if the pain persists, even an occasional sharp jab, that you check in with a Shoulder Specialist.
