I actually hate going to these fukin things so much and always get anxiety and feel sick and my body tenses up. I know they my family hates me and they probably feel bad being around me too. They’re just inviting me out of guilt or because they feel like they have to. I don’t even care anymore if I don’t get invited to stuff I only want to lay in bed anyway.

So generally I start by explaining the relationship between barometric pressure and incoming storm fronts on musky behavior and activity, and what types of structure I'd expect the fish to be on in the different scenarios. I then go into bait selection and presentation until their eyes glaze over and I can end the convo and be free of them and start enjoying myself, because they were never going to understand or care anyway.

Get some wholesome but interesting hobbies. Challenge yourself, putting yourself in uncomfortable situations (i.e. sky diving, jiu jitsu, boxing, etc)

OP, consider yourself lucky if that's the worst of it. Everyone on my dad's side of the family is completely obsessed with marriage & kids. Completely obsessed! Its all they ever talk about. Their marriage & children. There's so many kids running around, most of them I don't even know their names. Understand, its very female-dominated on that side of the family. As far as blood relatives go, there are about three gals for every one guy. So I guess it makes sense. That whole obsession. And since I'm the only grandchild (of 10) who's never been married and has no kids, family gatherings will occasionally turn into a full blown intervention for me. I'll makes jokes and stuff in hopes of entertaining myself or lightening the mood, but everyone will just stare at me like I'm lighting up a rock of crack or something.
