Networking opportunities?
City vibes (who wants to live in a boring suburb)
Being able to walk everywhere?
No need for a car?
Proximity to interesting places?

Also, the suburbs have way better shopping obviously. Everything from supermarkets to hardware stores to anything else is like mini-size in nyc because of rent prices. Not having a car is a huge liability unless you're thinking about cost savings, which get balanced out by nyc cost of living anyway.
