Crawfish?

Have any of you 'tards been to a crawfish boil? It's where they cook 500-2000 pounds of fresh crawfish and serve them on tables at a large gathering. Crawfish look like miniature lobsters. There are usually some items like guns and sports memorabilia auction/raffled off during the event. 2 days before the event someone has to drive to Louisiana in a cargo van to purchase the live crawfish and bring them back.

I always thought of them as giant shrimp with pincers but I've never seen one in person. Wouldn't turn down a chance to try them.

On occassion in University there would be crawfish boils hosted by fraternity tailgates for college football.
I went to Vanderbilt, so the highlight was always the tailgate, never the game.
One time I won a signed football.
Unfortunately it was signed by the football coach.
It's still a good football to play with on the beach

I used to walk through a shallow creek by my house when I was a kid and there would be crayfish in the water swimming away quickly into hiding.

I found a blue lobster in a freshwater inland lake once, and several years later realized that it was a giant crawfish when I saw a bunch of smaller ones hanging out in a river in the same mountains.
