Mcdonalds has gone so downhill in the last 20 years (srs)

Used to be a real fun place, kids loved it with all the colourful characters, play areas, they always used to be buzzing.

These days they are sterile and stale environments, they have no USP and live on nostalgia and the value of their brand name.

You go in, order on the self serve kiosk and then grab your bag of food when your order number gets yelled 5 times in 10 seconds.

In addition to this the food has gotten worse. How many times have you gotten a double cheeseburger with COLD cheese slices and soggy patties?

I prefered it when they made the burgers up and slid them into the warmer, that was the way things should be, the melted cheese, the slight dryness of the burger, it just tasted much better, sure occasionally you'd get a cremated fillet of fish but even that was better than a soggy burger patty pulled straight out of the juice, and cold cheese slices.

Also, no promotional burgers. Idk if this is different in the states, but here we have no promo burgers, instead we have the "gourmet range" which nobody likes.

McDonald's is the prime example for me of a company dining out on its past glory.

Just compare 90s mcdonalds to today, its no comparrison.

The evolution of mcdonalds as a brand is a great representation of how the USA has evolved into an isolated suburban chithole that caters only to selfish adults.

the mcdonalds we went to growing up they literally had one of the employees (an elderly woman) sit out in the dining area and do crafts with the kids every wednesday, she would also read to kids... not even kidding.

Also miss all the collabs they’d do with movies and popular cartoons. Whole entire store would be decked out in posters, cardboard cutouts, and toys. Can’t forget the special cups they’d have for this either

Used to be a regular for me as a youngster to go to the movies and see the latest blockbuster then hit mcd's after to get the tie in meal with the collectors cup and the special "batman burger" or whatever.

Mcdonalds was a real fun treat back then, I can't imagine kids being overly excited to go to one now.

As a matter of fact I rarely see kids at my local, moreso it's 30-50 year old office workers miserably lining up for their lunch or dinner to take home.

I avoid the place unless I am in a rush.

McDouble is still the best tasting fast food burger I think. Also best fast food fries outside of Arby’s Curley fries imo.

That being said, it is lame how it isn’t a pooping place for kids anymore. Some still have those cool play places and happy meals are still affordable/ fun for kids.

Yep. Slow, expensive, and not even tasty most of the time. One of the last things I used to still get now and then was the sausage biscuit [$1 since forever] and when I ordered one a few weeks back they charged $1.79.

Usually no one is at the counter to wait on you, drinks/ketchup is self-serve, dining room is hospital tier boring...

My daughter likes to get a double QP...says that is the only burger that they still make fresh when you order it. Don't know if that is true.

It went in the toilet after they stopped cooking their fries in beef tallow in the 80s…They made their food “healthy” to satisfy the critics and it went to crap.

I hate the self order computer screens.

It's very impersonal and you don't even get to say hello to the waitress. It's like being in a machine with human parts.

What you're seeing is America in action. Everything is as low quality as possible in order to make money.

They were trying to make money by making the place fun, now they are trying to make money through automation. They must know that they will always have a certain amount of people shopping there and they are no longer interested in playlands and parties. So, get rid of employees and turn the place into a giant vending machine.

Delivery services like UberEats, DoorDash, Deliveroo etc have absolutely ruined the experience as well.

Feels like online orders are now prioritised so ordering food inside takes so much longer. They should make separate kitchens for that.

Mcdouble meal supersized with 2 mayo packs was over $9.30 I'm never going back again that used to be like 5 bucks. ****ing $1 they charged me for the mayo, I can't even get those fries down my throat without it.

One of my favorite memories as a kid was heading to the downtown McDonald’s with my crew 8 deep, nothing but a few singles and loose change in our pockets and walking out full. Dat dere McGangbang for $2 and a free cup of “water.”

in my experience it's heavily location dependent. you can go to one McDonald's have it taste like complete **** which is the case in busy ones from what i've seen. My local one is run so smoothly most of the time, quick food and good food. well made.

fries suck universally now though. they have like a 3 minute expiration date.
