Does HIIT Boxing destroy muscle gain?

    Hi.

Recently I have added boxing to my muscle building programme thing.
I've currently been doing it most days.

To specify I have been doing HIIT boxing for about 20minutes a day.

I'm just wondering if doing this could reduce / damage muscle gain?

    Thanks for any help

What is HIIT boxing? Could you describe what you are doing?

It is likely that it is not significantly impacting you in a negative way unless it is making it harder for you to recover.

No, not unless you do it for about 3 hours straight.

It depends on a few factors. The below study does show concurrent training of resistance training and endurance training together didn’t gain as much lower body strength or hypertrophy as resistance training alone. The concurrent group did, however, lose more fat than either the endurance only or resistance only groups.

HIIT is actually better from that standpoint and 20 minutes only likely is not going to induce a serious interference effect.

Though to be fair, 1 minute intervals are not true HIIT, rather it is just interval training, but that still should be better than steady state cardio.

It's only likely to inhibit anabolic signaling if:

    a) You're burning too many calories

    Or

    b) You're compromising your recovery

Keep the cardio in moderation and you're good to go.
