Mcdonalds is better nowadays imo..
they had so much pressure from its past reputation of it being "unhealthy" that I think they actually tried.
They have the actual money to buy proper beef and ingredients now. Try an angus burger and tell me thats not some good shiet and surprised nobody talks about their poutines. Good sht with uber eatsDoordasher crew (SRS)

I'd have to say subway. Got rid of the old traditional steak and cheese and replaced it with some philly cheesesteak crap. Also got rid of the BBQ sauce..like wtf? Vegetables dont taste nearly as fresh anymore either was in there the other day and my tomatoes werent even red they were like a very light pink. Oh yea, and prices went up alot

Everything has been on a decline since the global financial crisis.
I had a Big Mac meal recently and the burger was featherweight - is the meat even real and does the bread have any flour? Absolute waste of money and should cost no more than $2 for what you get.
Pizza in general has been on the decline also.
I strongly believe that big corps have been cutting even more corners to boost shareholder returns and executive remuneration at the cost of consumers health.
Happy I am old enough to have enjoyed the good old days while they lasted.

There's nothing special about their ingredients, nor was that ever the case. They get the same basic crap from Sysco just like most food chain dumps, then dress it up in some cheap seasonings and sauces. The meats there are a complete joke srs, on par with McDoubles quality just dressed up and marketed differently. Chipotle is proof that the right marketing can enable a place to charge well above whatever garbage they're peddling is worth, so long as they convince people it's somehow special.
Applebee's? When were they last *good*? They've been a trash sit down chain for as long as I can remember. Their success is based almost exclusively on the comfort of familiarity, which often appeals to larger group gatherings and travelers through town who want to know exactly what they're getting no matter where the location is, even if it's overpriced crap.
They overcharge by like $2-$3 per alcoholic drink, too. The one thing they did really well at one point was traditional wings, which were even on the half-priced happy hour menu. Then they ruined it by getting rid of them for chitty "boneless wingz" chicken nuggets with wing sauce, and the "double crunch" bone-in wings that replaced the originals as a secondary option are like fkn $2 per wing. brb now you could cook up 2 full packs of grocery store wings exactly as you want them for the cost of like 7 wings there (not including tip and other bs). Then they took all the decent stuff off the 1/2 happy hour ap prices and cut portion sizes all around.
Subway hasn't been anything special since like 1998. Absolute chit tier ingredients and terrible customer service with understaffing being the norm outside of the lunch rush hour. brb pay like $10 for an 11-inch "foot long" sub with Oscar Meyer lunch meat quality meats and wilted vegetables with a drink while waiting for one person to finish 4 or 5 other peoples' subs before they finish rining you up so you can pay and leave. Fuk that noise. Just another chithole restaurant chain based exclusively on familiarity, availability and nostalgia at this point.

subway was always hit or miss for me depending on which chain i went to and which sandiwch i got...ive had a few really good steak and cheese's back in the day....this was years ago though, now they are all pretty much crap. What i hate the most about subways now is the line's take forever even if theres only 2 people in front of you ...usually cuz theres only 1 person working the front and 1 person in the back. Whenever i go to subway now i usually get the spicy italian.
