Hi misc,
Anyone here still going balls to the walls with natty bodybuilding ? What keeps you going ?
Personally for me I need to see some sort of a change otherwise there's just no point in putting forth all that effort. Been lifting religiously since 2007 and my physique reached it's peak some years back.
Pretty evident of some of the natty pros like Ryan Dorris, Alberto Nunez etc haven't changed despite their long off seasons and despite the 'progressive overload' that has been implemented.
Depressing as fukc tbh.
Hence why I'm more focused on pling / sm style right now but this too will come to a halt unless you start taking creatine monohydrate etc etc
Anyone here still competes in natty bbing despite not have mad any gains ?

What about people who no longer makes gains and don't compete? You don't want to hear from us? So much discrimination in this place.

competing is dumb as fuk. Just lift to look good and be healthy. The real troll is lifting heavy for years only to fuk your knees or blow your back out

Was on the natty crew for 6+ years and honestly I enjoyed the grind. I was able to get well above average in strength but was 17-18% bf. I was also able to reach ~8ish body fat and was weak as chit and hungry ALL the time. Progress slowed to a crawl after 3 years.
I suffer from primary hypogonadism though so I decided to hop on treatment and haven't looked back since.
Mods, I feel like I haven't crossed any boundaries here but delete the post if so.Strong mind, strong body.

15 ~ years natural training. I've found that I can still make gains but I need to take time off from some other goal to gain on another one.
Earlier, last year, I had to loose a little bit of upper body to bring my deadlift up 50lb. Then in this 2nd part of my offseason, I was able to finally get my arms up about .25inch, but I had to actually switch off focus on powerlifting and just do the best I could to maintain squat/deadlift. I was able to maintain 25lb of the gain on the deadlift from prior part of the year.
If you look at the successful ifpa guys you'll see that they mostly have to do a 2 step forward and 1 step back type approach. Philip Ricardo Jr. gave me a bit of insight on his approach a few years ago, and it's really made the difference.
I use to be a fan of Nunez/ Ryan Doris/ Norton but now I realize that these guys don't really know how to make progress. I honestly believe Nunez has gotten worse since 2008~. They get too focused on the micro-changes in their programs and are afraid to step out of their comfort zone like they did when they first started. Layne is a great example too - he went way too far deep in the PL rabbit hole - should have taken breaks, maybe he wouldn't have had so many injuries.

In this day and age being natty requires you to not have a needle sticking out of your forearm in the last 35.5 seconds. If it was atleast 36 seconds ago you are natty

Ive been working on mainly weakpoints for quite some time now, also in my soon 9th year of lifting.
I still see progress but its rather slow and I dont stress myself about it. Im at a point where I can look in the mirror and know I have a decent physique and the overall appearance/look wont change too much. If I get a bit more rear delt or calves for example in a matter of 6-10 months then thats already a success to me. So its more of a riding the wave of the lifestyle kind of thing than actually going balls to the walls, trying to achieve as much as possible by sacrificing some quality of life factors.
The higher you get, the easier you slip and I rather aim towards something I can hold on to easier throughout the coming years.
edit: mirin your physique btw

Respect to the nattys out there it's a struggle.
Gains are small and at a snail's pace but I suppose your diet/training will be absolutely spot on to make them gains.
It's not something I could do long term. I much prefer the other side.WRB :)

I pretty much trust nobody that looks insanely shredded or three dimensional. There's a few bodybuilding comps where the guys seem more or less natty. Maybe they use ephedrine or diuretics to shred down...but they don't look like they're on stuff.
For example there's this guy who's a popular pro gamer and now bodybuilder. I think if you have a physique like 1:45 you're doing incredibly well for yourself

Natty here but I dont compete, a lot of bullchit in the industry. I wouldn't be depressed about it though OP. IMO a person who reaches their max while being natty is the pinnacle of human physical achievement. Although I dont think you'll ever truly hit your peak, there is always something to work on. Cardio, certain muscle group, flexibility etc.

I'll probably always stay natty. If I ever went on, I don't think I could ever come off them. Would be too demotivating shrinking all the way back to my natural potential after having seen what is possible with exogenous hormones. Not worth the health risk when not competing or having tremendous genetic potential IMO.
