So moving sucks. Well the ACT of moving. Normally it is for an exciting reason BUT the physical carry out of moving is always a bummer!

I myself just moved - loaded a big ol truck with my wife and moved several states away. Thankfully we did so in two days and without hassle. BUT EVERYONE HAS A GREAT MOVING STORY where something goes awry!

During my last move i ratchet strapped my fridge to a dolly and loaded it up, did the same when unload, or so i thought...
I wondered "Why were the straps so much easier this time? maybe I did it wrong last time.."

Well surely enough it was not strapped right and the fridge fell off the dolly and hit the floor. Not fun...

between high school and college i worked for a cross country moving van company. we moved families and businesses that were re-locating long distances.

i didnt do any driving, just the grunt work of loading and unloading. had loads of fun, saw alot of great scenery and most of the country. i wouldnt trade the life experience for anything, but i couldnt do it for a living. being on the road all the time is tough, i take my hat off to people that have made it a career.

So my husband and I JUST moved last week.

He is a firefighter and just got accepted into a paramedic program (Not sure if everyone know this but firefighters and paramedics are one and the same). The program would be a 90 min commute for him, and class starts at 6:30am and goes till 5pm. The traffic would have been horrendous. So we decided to move inbetween where we are now and his class (because I work in the city we used to live in). So now we both will be commuting 30-45min a day both ways.

The thing is, he found out He was accepted 2 weeks ago, and the program starts this monday. So we literally had to find somewhere, break out contract, pack, move, ect, in 1 week. It was a mess. All while still working our full time jobs. Most apartment complex areas close around 5 or 6, and that's when we get off work. So that made it a nightmare.

He ended up taking a day off to search for an apartment and looked all day. We had to make a quick decision and just sign a contract. Then come moving day, it's RAINING of course, and 2 of his friends who were going to help us move BAILED. Keep in mind we are on the 4th floor now. Imagine him and I trying to move couches and tables. It took all day. We got upset with each other often, we were tired and frustrated. But we're here now

This is a good promo. Need me some isolate. My best no in story was I moved across town and had a trailer hooked to my truck. We took a corner and that damn trailer popped off the hitch and went ghost ridin down the turning lane sparking everywhere. Luckily nothing fell out but the thing was hauling ass haha.

i have moved alot but one time i moved i asked my boys to help me and needless to say it was the last time i asked them to help that apt i had it in great shape nothing wrong with it at all and at the end of the night with them helping me i had wholes on the kitchen floor from them trying to get the fridge out and them chipping and denting the walls and lets just say i ended up not getting all my deposit back because of them lol

WHAT A PERFECTLY TIMED THREAD FOR ME! I just moved, well I should say am still in the process of moving! When my fiance' and I first saw this house we fell in love immediately and put in an offer that day. The offer was accepted and we were on our way. When we first saw the house it was immaculate, beautiful floors, ample storage space, new windows, everything we wanted and looked for. One the day we signed we were able to get in the house, the previous owners had already vacated the house a few days prior. We pulled up to the house ran over to the front door took a selfie in front of our new home, breathed a big sigh of relief and proceeded to unlock the door. As we opened the door and stepped in we were welcomed to a deathly odor and what looked like an indoor landfill. There was garbage scattered from one end of the kitchen to literally the front door. We had 5 days to vacate our house and we had an absolute apocalyptic nightmare in our new home. After lots of screaming yelling and crying (from her) we picked ourselves up by the bootstraps and began the clean up. Within the first hour our largest garbage can was at max capacity! Her and I have worked day and night to get this place cleaned up, now mind you this was just the living areas, kitchen, living room, dining room, playroom, and first floor bedrooms. I never even though to check the basement. The next day we got there bright and early and I walked in to the basement to find everything they didn't want to bring with them down there, all the electrical wiring hanging, I'm talking open outlets with no face plugs, live wires sitting on the ground and A LEAKY MAIN WATER PIPE with live wires and plugs just sitting in it! I was fuming, I called our lawyer and realtor and went ape****! It's now been about 3 weeks since then, we're all moved in and settling at this point but man the first two weeks were horrendous, luckily the buyers of our old house were in no hurry and gave us a few extra days to keep our things there while we cleaned. For as long as this post is, it barely skims what we went through/are going through right now hahaha

Shoot years back we moved and it was a horror story. It started out because our son wanted a puppy, no problem right??? Well we were introduced to a beautiful liter of puppies and he picked the one he wanted. We got home with her and after a few weeks we were informed that our pitbull was not welcomed or allowed which we were new to, "not allowed due to the breed"??? We were forced to move as we weren't going to give up on our new little one. We found a perfect house with a huge yard and everything we needed so we loaded up moved in, repainted all the inside and did a ton of yard work to only find out a few weeks later the owner of the house has not paid the mortgage for almost a year and the house was forclosed on and we forced to leave again!!! This time it was worse and almost impossible as we paid him first,last,deposits and more so we were tapped out and nothing we could do as his number was shut off and nowhere to be found. We pulled thru and found a new place but it was extremely hard but it did make us stronger. Since then we have moved a few more times but it was by our choice to suit us better. Moral of the story... do what you have to in order to make your family happy. Good luck to all and hope you never go thru this lol

I just had a move from FL to VA. My dad and I rented a uhual(20 ft), packed up some furniture, drove 3 hours, packed more furniture and got a full ramp to tow my car. Then on the same day, we drove 4 more hours!

The following day we drove 7 more hours. Luckily we drove those 4 hours the previous day cause if we didn't, it would of been a pain!

Funny thing was, to rent a truck from original destination to VA was 900$ but if we rented from original and then returned it at the second destination, and then rented again from second destination to Virginia it was only 500$ total.

I recommend budget trucks if you are doing lots of miles, much cheaper!

When I was moving to Boston, I had a couch that I needed to move to the 2nd floor of the place I was moving into. Well the staircase had a turn in it and I thought the couch was going to make it......NOPE! We tried and tried and tried but we just couldn't make it work to get it around the turn. So we had to leave it on the sidewalk for a few days before I was able to find someone on Craigslist who was interested in it. I had to cover it up with a tarp in case the weather got bad. And the worst part is that I only got a fraction of what I paid for it.

Oh man moving always blows. It especially blew for me and my family three years ago when my wife and I were loading up the truck to take stuff to storage for a three months while we waiting to move into our new house. We were in the garage and my wife bumped her head pretty hard on a bike that was hanging in the garage. It didn't seem like a big deal but she had a really bad headache for the rest of the day. Later that night, she was driving and got real dizzy and nautious. She pulled over and called me to see what to do. I told her to stay there and I'd be right there. I drove her to a nearby emergency room. They checked her out and sent her home saying it was probably a concussion. It turns out she dissected her artery in her neck when she bumped her head. She ended up having a small stroke two days later and it hit the fan from there. a full week in the ICU with clots behind her eyes. Real scary stuff.

Three years later and we're completely back to normal other than she was advised not to have any more babies because it'd be too hard on her body. I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy.

This is a great topic for a promo CTrain! My wife and I have moved just about every year we have been together for the last 5 years (she's a saint!)

We are both originally from MN but two years ago I got a call from my previous employer with an offer we couldn't refuse to pack up and move from MN to Spokane, WA. Neither of us had ever been to WA State let alone anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. That had to have been the easiest move for us as the company paid for the ENTIRE move, flights out to Spokane and even shipped our cars. However, this past January I accepted another new job which was to be based on Salt Lake City which is where we currently are, but this time they just paid us a lump sum to pay for the move but we had to do it ourself. Unfortunately I did not think about what moving would be like in the middle of WINTER in UTAH

It took us a full day to pack up the Uhaul truck and then we headed out on our 10 hour journey to Salt Lake. Luckily, we made it to Boise without much of a hiccup which was about 6 hours from Spokane. As soon as we hit Utah it was like going through one of those Minnesota blizzards where it should almost be illegal to be on the road. The last 4 hours took us around 8 hours driving 35mph the entire way. In the end, we both made it safe and like I said, my wife is an absolute saint for going on this crazy journey with me and we couldn't be happier! Until our next move...

I know the promo is over but I thought i'd share, kinda gets the venting out anyway!

I would say it was the worst turned relieved? n the last 5 years I've had to move 6 times! it was over a spread until the last 1.2 years where it was 3 times. Two novembers ago I moved in with my girlfriend at the time then we split up a year later and we both moved seperately back to out home town. When I got back I had learned that my parents had split up (divorce), my mom had left the house so my dad put it up for sale. It took 3 months before moving to school for the house to sell so I had to move into a crap/expensive apartment in the home town for 2.5 months before moving again to my now apartment in a college town for hopefully stay 2 years. If one can relate for the anticipation of moving, it sucks to get rid of things you want, and feels good for things you don't want, not waiting to buy furniture to carry, or waiting to rehang/display some of the things you have. Now it's narrowed down to specifics and can say it feels great to finally display/hang things that ive been waiting to forever, and buy new furniture/organize and design the rooms!
