I'm not a fan of this choice, but it won't stop me from voting for Trump. It's back to voting libertarian for me after Trump though.
I figured Trump would have to address this early today, as Mike Pence had a deadline of filing re-election paperwork for governor.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

I initially thought mistake but it may not be. The sole purpose of the VP in this election is to try to capture another voter block. Trump stumbles with Christians which Pence is apparently strong with.
You would have to look at who would leave Trump due to this pick vs who he would potentially gain.
He could go after Christians
Women
Blacks
etc
Most people would probably argue a black VP wouldn't do much if anything to gain the black vote. So it's a toss up between strengthening himself with women or Christians.*PUREBLOOD CREW*

Is his state a close one? Would this guy help Trump win that state?
Also, it seems trump went with the Roger Stone advice. Don't look for someone who can help you. Just pick someone who doesn't hurt you. Some quiet choice, and move on.
I would have gone with **** De Lisa Rise! Guaranteed win. Or Ben "pot smoking" Carson. Or that Latina woman senator. Gotta calm the moron masses.

Mike Pence is fine. When you have a more Centrist candidate who shoots-from-the-hip I don't think it's a bad idea to have someone that is more traditional. I think it provides a little balance. We also have to remember that this pick isn't for us, if Pence can appeal to your middle-aged Christian housewife that would be a great thing.

Good points I think we were all too concerned with thinking he needed to pick someone to attempt to attract Democrats to him but instead he likely needs someone to strengthen him with the traditional Republican base.
What's easier getting someone that usually votes republican to vote republican or to get someone that never votes republican to vote republican.*PUREBLOOD CREW*

The establishment is gambling on voter turnout. Voter turnout for the GOP during the primaries was an all time high. Now they want to bring them all together for November. That's what this choice was. Dunno if it was the correct one, but we shall see.

Great choice from Trump!
This finalizes the uniting the of the Republican Party. Trump needs and quite frankly should work with the establishment after all he ran as a republican.
1. He's going to have to work with them anyhow after he is elected
2. If he didn't want to work with them and be completely outside the system he should have ran independent.

Weak choice.
Especially after Nice, Flynn would have been an excellent choice.
Moving the election focus to national security would bolster Trump, whereas re-fighting the stupid culture war on abortion is idiotic. When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

This had to be done to get the rest of the establishment on board. You know that's what all of the meetings were about. This is also why Don was conflicted about this choice. His gut told him to pick Christie but the establishment was pushing Pence on him. I think he made the correct choice here. Christie would have been an absolute failure. Would have brought no one from the left along with keeping the right fractured.
