Im looking at SLING tv,NetFlix,HULU,Amazon Prime..The channels I watch mostly are tnt,scifi,amc,travel,hgtv,diy,history,CN/adult swim,Fox animation "bobs burgers, family guy, american dad"

Yep we were around $170 month for cable and Internet and I only watched History, Discovery, Science Channel and basic free local channels.
It would save some money. We pay less than $50 now for Internet and basic cable. We still get most of the shows I watched. We bought our own modem and router which was a few hundred but cheaper than renting from cable company. You have to wait for the newest episodes but that doesn't bother me. Use the savings for a new gym membership for a change of atmosphere and get back to the gym .

Use google chrome and install both adblock plus and ghostery from the Chrome Store (search for it in the address bar: (chrome store adblock plus))
Once all are installed, search for watchseries, projectfreetv and solarmovies. All have every tv show currently aired, commercials have been cut, and episodes are usually available 2-3 hours after they come on initially. Just imaging, watching the show you want, when you on, on demand. It's awesome. We've been streaming stuff here for years and never had any issues.
Besides Chrome, ghostery, and adblock plus, don't install ANYTHING the sites "require" you to install. It's fake and virus'. Just don't download anything a site tells you it needs because its lying. Adblock plus should protect you from most stuff. Chrome has built in players for nearly every mass consumption media encoding built in.

All we have is Netflix (10$ a month) and Amazon Prime ($100 a year I think). Plenty of shows to watch with an occasional movie rental from Amazon. The only thing I miss from actual TV is sports.
Just realized my TV entertainment for the year is less than what John pays in a month
Goes with my shoe budget as well** Marie **

lol When we moved, it was a chance to ditch DirectTv...which I thought was good, but way over priced. My main concern was internet and figured I could probably stream just about anything, plus I love downloading movies and it would be nice to bring them down in 15 minutes compared to downloading overnight. So Comcast had a deal for blast internet which is "up to 150MB" (not that I ever see that) but the base package is sparse to say the least. I called to add Comcast sports since I am a big Celtics fan....and it would of cost me $80 just add a sports package that had that channel. F that....I barely watch tv as it is...I'll spend that $80 on some grass fed hamburger. So I have been playing around with streaming (have had Netflix for years), but streaming still isn't there quite yet, especially for sports. Which is why I mentioned the NFL app from Verizon...that is free to subscribers...didn't even know I had it until I was trying to figure out how to watch a Pats game when we first moved in and were waiting for the cable install. Now if only they had an NBA one. Cable will see its day soon where it will have to change it's pricing/policies. Retarded that I can't get a Celtics game for less than $80/mo. I can't even buy the NBA package because it will show me every game BUT the Celtics (blackout).

thanks for the replies everyone. My nephew uses streaming as his only tv. he seems to like it. My issue is with the wife. She has never been one to do anything "off the beaten path" or.."out of the box"..so my job is to convince her and also another issue is paying so much JUST for internet access..Its ridiculous..ALSO some streaming services dont allow for multiple tv setups..I know Netflix does though..Im looking at SlingTV,Netflix,Hulu,Amazon Prime..heck you can get all of those and pay less than cable/satellite a month...Anyone know a cheaper internet service that is available nation wide?? Would love to totally get away from Charter.

what convinced my wife... and it took a bit of convince, was the sheer money savings. It seems like my cable bill would increase every month... and every other months I would have to call up the cable company to negotiate a new lower price. And each and every time I did that, the phone call would last for almost 2 hours... and then at billing time, some moron would not apply the new changes and the whole process would start all over again.

yea..exactly..the cost would be less..I know its strange to not have 500 channels at your fingertips,BUT NOBODY watches that many.AND the cost going up all the time.AND relying on their service and calling them up all the time. It just seems like something people would want to get away from.
Like a couple here have mentioned..I have also watched my share of free tv/movies online but those services are hitNmiss and most times taken down for breaking laws...I mean,..with these streaming services you have pretty much everything anytime YOU want it. I hope to do something soon and tell Charter to pissoff..!!!!DONT LIKE ME?..DONT AGREE!!!...DONT CARE!!!!..."drops mic"...PEACEOUT!!!
