Hey for a couple of years now i've always felt really hazy and distant. Kind of like i'm looking through a foggy window, cotton balls in my head, dizzy sometimes, hazzy, distant. It got better after new years when i start working out a lot, and in the past few months it's gotten a lot worse.
the past week's been really bad, really bad.
I work out every day, i eat 5 or 6 meals a day, i eat really healthy. I'm not a vegetarian, i take a lot of vitamins, i take suppliments but nothing hard core.
I was taking the following.
1 vitamin b12
2 multivitamins
3 or 4 glucosamine and condroiton
1-2 table spoons of essential fatty acid oils.
1 vitamin b complex
1 calcium and magnesium
4 hmb (3 grams)
5-10 grams of glutamine
1-3 protein shakes a day
i drink quite a bit of green/red tea
i got some stuff called Greens RX, like Greens +
The past 3 days i haven't taken any vitamins, just protein, glutamine, hmb, and fatty acid oils. I'm gonna see if that helps at all. I'm going to get some blood work done.
Maybe it's an iron deficiancy? I never have any energy, i always feel drained, i work out a lot so that should give me more energy. For a while there it was hard for me to get out of bed. Could be sleep patterns, but they aren't too bad.
Any idea's? Obviously the doctor is a good idea. Anyone else ever experience this?
I only work every muscle group once a week, i usually lift for major muscle groups 6 days a week, rest 1 day, sometimes 2. And i go to the gym again maybe 2-3 times a week for abs, or do them at home. I haven't done cardio for a while, but i was trying to go mountain biking 3 or 4 times a week for an hour each time.
Hmm, this sucks.

i had mono, i didnt really realize it and one day my mom was like 'you know you have been laying around and sleeping a lot is there something wrong?' went to the doctor and a couple days later my results came back, mono... they ended up placing me on prednisone(oral steroid) for like 2 weeks that gave me some energy back but it took a few months to be 100% you should goto the doctor and have them check you out

i had a throat swab a while ago when i felt sick, it wasn't mono then... maybe it was? The lab never called back, and the doctor said that mean't that there wasn't anything wrong.
I do fit most of the symptoms of depression. That is a big maybe, but i dont' want to go on drugs that will change who i am, when i don't know for sure what it is.
Thanks for the help guys.
It's just wierd how it gets better, and then gets worse, and then gets better, and then gets a lot worse.

You are most likely overtrained (I'd say its verging on certain), get out of the gym completely for a week then go back with drastically reduced frequency."my grocery bill looks like a ransom note"

Hey canada boy, i had the exact same symptons as u, it really is a nightmare, especially when u dont know what it is, at first ithought it was in my head but after a while i realised feeling this bad wasnt in my imagination, but like u say, somedays id then be fine. It was weird. I even did the same as u, stopped taking my multi coz i thought it must be something i was taking! Lol!
I went to the doc and found out i had a low white blood cell count. A weakend immune system basically. This was due to overtraining, the fact that i took every lift every day to failure totally whacked my c.n.s and led to my feeling. The specialist analyzed my training and said it had been a slow acumilation over months and that i needed to change my style. I took 4 weeks off, tried to lower any stress in my life and maintained a good diet.
I then started back training but built up the amount of days i trained as well as building up the workload slowly to let my body adjust (dont launch straight back into ur old program, ur body cant go from doing nothing to six days a week). I now train like a strength athlete, e.g no lifts to failure, low reps, e.t.c and im making better gains than ever.
I hope u get better its a really horrible thing to have, especially when u dont know if ur gonna be ok one day or really bad the next.
BTW wot is mono?Bo selecta!

mono is the short name for mononucleosis. It is a virus that is transmitted through touch only and has no known cure. It can take from a week to more than a year for the body's immune system to defeat it. The symptoms are horrible and include dizziness, fatigue, fever, etc.

thats the problem now a days, everybody and there mama wants to make a diagnosis. It could possibly be overtraining, but he still needs to see a doctor. His health history and assesment, with the proper testing, should give doctors and nurses a much better shot at diagnosis than us. So with all due respect, GO TO THE DOCTORS.
All he needs to do is stop training for a week then he'll know, he says its been worse since new year so he's not been in any hurry to visit the doctor before."my grocery bill looks like a ransom note"

Wow...you know, thats the reasons that pesonal trainers like me get a bad rap. Because we forget that we are not doctors, but trainers. Let the doctors do the diagnosing. For all you know, he could have something you have never heard of.

The guy is taking HMB every day, doing 13 training sessions per week or whatever it is, I think its pretty obvious where he's going wrong. If he backs off training for a bit then he'll actually be able to see if there is anything wrong with him. Nobody should train that much its no suprise he is ill."my grocery bill looks like a ransom note"

Hey thanks for all of the responses.
what is CNS?
Well i don't really train 13 times a week! I must have posted wrong.
I lift for major muscle groups usually 5 or 6 days a week.
and try and go in to the gym and do abbs 3-4 times a week, sometimes i do them at home. I don't do abbs connected with my other workouts. I haven't been doing cardio lately, but when i do i go mountain biking for an hour.
I do workout really hard for quite a long time, and i do try and work to failure. My buddy got back from ontario and he's really hardcore so we've been going really hard the past week...
But what i don't get is that most people who are serious train as much as this, so why is it effecting me so much? training major muscle groups 5-6 days a week seems normal isn't it? abs 2-4 times a week, cardio when i have energy (not much). That's not really excessive is it?
I took a couple weeks of a few months ago due to a rotator cuff issue, and i didn't really notice too much, but i was itching to get back...
I thought it could be overtraining, but realy i'd like to train MORE than i am now, i thought what i was doing was a fair bit, pretty intense, but not excessive. Maybe i'm wrong?
So what is my CNS, and how is it battered?
Thanks again guys

I use to feel this way as well. I actually went to a psychiatrist and he said it was normal due to feelings of pressure, etc. As if u try to distance yourself from it. It is as of u are stoned 24/7 and u really do see things through a cloud. At the time I was depressed and had anxiety. I had it for 2 years or so. I weightlifted during this period as well(was 16 or so) I really suggest going to your doctor and talking about it, could be many things. When there could be so many factors involved, it's ludacris to simply close your mind and say it is due to an individual factor, which could be completely wrong.
You really should go to your doctor, why rely on people who can merely form opinions? I never understood this. IF it concerns u go to a doctor.

i just went to the doctor. he couldn't find anything wrong with my phsically, so i'm going to get blood tests tomorrow morning.
I don't know how i could be over training, if i were doing each body part twice a week, and going to the gym twice a day for major body parts i can see that.
but 5-6 days a week, say
mon - shoulders
tues - back
wed - legs
thurs - chest
fri - bi's tri's
sat - rest
sun - shoulders and start routine over, or maybe calves and forarmes, or maybe justs abs, or maybe another day off.
That's pretty typical of most people who lifts weights isn't it? 5 day split.

I once had a spell like that and it turned out to be a brain tumor!! FYI go see a Doctor and get the problem fixed. That would be my advice. My systems were a little different but I could never have guessed that is was a tumor that was causing it I had the side effects for about a year and then had the MRI and found out the real problem. Good luck

yea i've been to the doctor, blood test tomorrow morning.
You're right it could be any number of things. But here i'm hearing from people who've experience the same things, from the same activities. It gives me some good insight into the possibilities, so i can reflect on my lifestyle and see if those things fit. My sleep has been bad lately, it's been getting worse. So i'm going to try really hard to get a LOT of sleep, and back off on the liquds in the evenings BIG time, so i don't wake up. I've gone off my vitamins, but i'll get some ZMA after i get the blood tests back and see if that helps me sleep better as well.
Yea i really should take some time off working out, but i was talkign to some people at the gym, and my strength isn't going down, i can keep the same intensity, it's more of a mental fatique, i can give er like a mother ****er at the gym, the past few weeks i've been really hazy and kinda dizzy, but i can giv're. They were saying with over training your strength usually goes down, and also you get more sore for longer. I rarely get sore (well my legs were sore for about 3 or 4 days after a really really intense workout, but i did one more intense than it the next week and was only sore for a day). And i eat really well, 5-6 meals, 3-4 are real food meals, 1-2 are shakes. I drink tons of water and tea and what not. I don't drink coffee, i don't drink alchohal (rarely), no cigarettes, no drugs.
Although! I was taking CLA, and some other thing, it was ABS+ and Lean+ by greens canada. They have caffine in them and green tea extract. MY bottle ran out around the same time i started feeling worse, i couldn't afford to buy any more for the time being with school starting. Maybe going off the caffine or something in it contributed?
